Would it work using sheering elastic, if you have some and the holes in the beads are big enough. here in Spain I see lots of necklaces/braceleys threaded with a narrow gauze type ribbon, knotted after each bead, he necklaces have a 1/2 inch gap between beads, so it goes knot bead knot 1/2inch ribbon knot bead knot etc

Thanks for all your suggestions, I have a reel of lilac baby ribbon, I'll use that & also look for shirring elastic & stretch magic.
    Thanks again

sheering elastic is ok but over time loses its stretch - especially on bracelets and then tends to snap easier ;)

I use the clear stretch bead stuff but also use non stretch clear nylon fishing wire (loads cheaper to buy from a fishing shop than from a craft shop) - still got loads of the reel left ;) - but then you need to look at some claps really.

  • Hi
I'm not sure if anyone can help me, I've been asked to provide some 'stuff' for a local charity sale, I have loads of beads, all shapes & sizes & I was hoping to make some bracelets, problem is, where do I start, whatever items I make will be given to the charity to sell. I don't have many bracelet clasps, maybe 2 or 3 & have enough beads to make around 50 bracelets, what's the easiest way to make them without spending any money on clasps etc, can I make then on elastic & knot it? Hope someone can help.

3 beads or so on a nice length of ribbon, suede cord, leather cord is simple, quick to make and very pretty. No clasps just tie a knot or with the ribbon fasten with a big bow.

Sometimes instead of a clasp I will make a loop one end of the wire/string and then put a large bead on the other end ;) The loop just fits snugly over the large bead creating a clasp. Have also used buttons. You can put small beads on the loop if you want to make it a bit prettier too. Just check that it fits fairly snugly but still easy enough to undo.

Mainly coz I react to anything not pure silver and turn it green very quickly :)
