    Hi,
I have annual membership so this doesnt concern me, but as I'm always wary of anything 'free' I noticed on the NT website it does say 'selected properties'. I dont know if that means selected properties are open or selected properties are free but its always advisable to phone before travelling far.
    ;) debt free...yippee

I posted about this in the Days Out forum and there is a link to *all* the properties (not just the NT one's) in my second post ;)

From the Heritage Open Days Website here is the link to a list of all the properties open on 9th September (including English Heritage, National Trust, Historic Houses Trust)

However, that list only seems to cover England  For NI and Wales, check the NT link in the first post.

    HTH :)

Thanks, I only posted because the link OP gave was an invalid link as part of the address was missing.

If you can compare links I gave and OP you will see there different even though they look the same just hoover mouse over the links and see it at bottom of browser
  • Scottish Youth Hostels, (SYHA) to join it's £8 and you can enjoy YHs in England and internationally.

The Youth Hostel Association (YHA) for those in GB but not Scotland, membership fee is £15.95 and you can enjoy YHs in Scotland and internationally.....

You just need a friend's address in Scotland to save nearly £8. As they are great value IMO, I am merely observing, not recommending.
  • Should have posted this earlier, but if you have an english heritage site near you they are open for free today. Check on the bbc news website, or go on to the English heritage to check your destination is included!

Enjoy free entry to hundreds of National Trust places to visit on Saturday 9 September 2006 and help make history.

The doors to many of our houses, gardens and other much-loved properties around England, Wales and Northern Ireland are opening for free on 9 September to celebrate Heritage Open Days, as part of the History Matters – pass it on campaign.

Had a great day out on Saturday (9th September) at Dunster Castle, Somerset - the grounds were lovely, the weather was great and I wouldn't have thought to have gone if I had not seen your post.

    Thanks Basil! :T
