Thanks. Think we may go to Blickling Hall.

    Or Felbrigg Hall?

    Or both?

Wish I could be in Norfolk that day!

Cragside in Northumberland is FAB! Shame the house is closed at the mo, but the Gardens are still well worth a look!

  • Hi

Same offer happening again this year, Thu 7 - Sun 10 September 2006:

    http://www.heritageopendays.org.uk/

Selected English Heritage, National Trust and Historic Houses Association as well as some private and council properties.

More info about Welsh, Scottish and Irish (N & S) heritage events can be found at

    http://www.heritagedays.net/

Open house London is a week later on Sat 16 & Sun 17 September, link is the "London" on the above page. The site isn't as nice as the open day one and starts with an annoying Flash intro (can be skipped).

Hope this is of interest/use. Not sure if this should have also gone on the "days out" board, but didn't want to cross post.

  • Midlands has Birmingham Aston Hall and Jewellery Quarter Museum and Blakesy Hall - excellent for free. Also try Worcester for the Cathedral - free admission to the library, usually £5.
This is a great deal for a family day out, and if you are near Birmingham the Artsfest this weekend is Birmingham's best ever freebie.

    great..thanks for that
  • Thanks to OP. With National Trust open for free on 9th September, it's going to be a difficult choice!

Little Jaffa - there's a separate National Trust for Scotland but they don't appear to be running the same promotion sadly.

But, the National Trust (Eng and Wales one) membership gives you free entry to National trust Scotland properties too, so you could join the national trust and save the money and still go to the Scottish properties.

Would post a link but no idea how to or which thread to read to find out - sorry.
  • Nice one! I'd completely forgotten I lived about a mile from one of the places on the list, so I'm definitely going there on Saturday. Thanks lots:j
  • To the best of my knowledge the National Trust for Scotland is cheaper to join than the National Trust (England & Wales) but like the NT lets you visit properties in Scotland, the Scottish one lets you visit properties in England & Wales.
  • The same offer as the national trust offer;

    good luck
