  • Couldn't find them in Bath area.
  • Tried telephoning 3 or 4 Somerfield stores in central London today. No joy. I'll probably resort to PC World now as I need a basic laptop by Thursday...
  • Does anyone know of any of these in the medway arear of kent?

I gotta get one of these really. http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=29973&&source=14&doy=search

I have a Tosh lappy and know exactly the toasted leg feeling you refer to, I got one of the cooling pads of eBay for £10 inc delivery, arrived in 3 days and I can honestly say my lap is now bordering on frosty even after hours of continuous surfing, I think the pad may well go down as oe of the best tenners I have spent

I have been 'umming and 'arring on this offer as I hadnt decided on whether to buy one or not so didnt want to alert the bargain hunters just yet, but now I have decided I dont want one so here goes.

Whilst in Somerfield today I noticed that they where selling a Medion 2.6ghz notebook, the one they where selling a few months back for £499.
It has a 2.6ghz cel processor, 256mb ram, 40gig hard drive,
wireless wi-fi G, dvd+ / - writer, 15" screen, winxp, tv out, modem, ethernet, loads of software for an incredible

Warranty is first 6 mths Somerfield and last 6 mths Medion. The one I saw was in Prescot, Merseyside

  • Interesting to see someone say it went for £250 somewhere; I'd probably pay that. Also interesting to see someone say their store was selling P4's. Has anyone else seen either of these occurences? It is a decent price but I don't think I'm going to pay it for a Celeron.

If this is a Celeron D (I.E. it has 256KB of L2 cache) then it's a perfectly competent performer, albeit that most people would be better off with a Celeron M (less lap burning, better battery life). The only Celerons that really suck are the ones based on the 'Willamette' and 'Northwood' Pentium 4 with 128KB of L2 cache, they went from 1.7GHz to about 2.6GHz IIRC; stock of those ones should mostly have sold through by now anyway.
  • I have a Medion desktop from Aldi. Good for the price, but read this forum http://medion.adslweb.co.uk/ for the lowdown.

My sis bought a Medion from Toys R Us. Sent it back once for new motherboard, and I've just bought her a new WiFi card because the built in one don't work.

You pays your money and you takes your choice...

im pretty sure this offer is on in woolworths to. Not sure if its the same spec but certainly had 2.6 sticker on a medion box at £350.

Was the woolworths in Torquay, Devon. Had a good 6 or so in a row, i didnt look any further but happened to notice them followed by this thread.

Hope it helps all those whose somerfields are sold out
