  • Try https://www.crucial.co.uk as their memory is good, cheap and shipped from within the UK so should get there fast.

I know some people have had hassles but I've many hundreds of GB of their memory and it's all been good for me.
... and that's all I have to say about that.

The type of memory would help a lot, as there are so many.
Also the number of total memory slots (which means: can I buy an extra 256Mb, in case there is a free slot?
If the number of slots is only one, then I have to buy 512Mb to replace the 256Mb.

In case there are two slots, is it possible toto install 512Mb so that the total becomes 256+512? Or should they be of the same capacity?

Many thanks for your help - will go to Somerfield tomorrow.
  • I've telephoned 4 stores in Surrey (Haslemere, Liphook, Alton and Bordon) without finding stores stocking this laptop at the moment. None of the staff on the telephone knew when, or even if, any stock would be received. Several recalled stocking similar laptops weeks or months ago.

BTW there's a useful Somerfield storefinder at:
    http://www.somerfield.co.uk/site/stores/storefinder.asp

Unfortunately, I can't find a way of finding stores stocking the laptop via the Somerfield website.

PeeWee I didnt ever think you were slagging my PC off, now Ive got to
go and stick it in my freezer to cool it down, :rotfl:

Whilst I like this lappy of mine I will never get another, such a pain upgrading
also overheating etc etc, next time its a Desktop all the way they are so
much easier to upgrade and keep cool etc etc.

Heat also depends on the make. I have used an Compaq N400c for 2 years - it is on 24 hours a day more or less. Stays 100% cool despite being a fraction of the size of most laltops you buy today. Easy to upgrade memory etc. If you get a cheap laptop then yes you with have problems, if you get a good laptop it's different. I use it connected to an external 17" monitor and keyboard. Hey presto the best of both worlds! I have no idae how good the Medion is, but with laptops you pay's your money and takes your chances...!

Kwik save is part of somerfield, and they sell medion stuff too - if there is one of those near you could try them.
  • Hi there,

Just to say that these are the laptops that were on offer a couple of months ago, some stores have some left and they have been reduced to clear.

The store I work in had point of sale come in for them at £250 but they had gone by that time.

    Just to clear that up!
  • Could anyone confirm it's 2.6GHz and not 1.6GHz????
  • They are 2.6ghz, however, the ones we had on sale had Pentium 4 stickers on them!
