I have been 'umming and 'arring on this offer as I hadnt decided on whether to buy one or not so didnt want to alert the bargain hunters just yet, but now I have decided I dont want one so here goes.

Whilst in Somerfield today I noticed that they where selling a Medion 2.6ghz notebook, the one they where selling a few months back for £499.
It has a 2.6ghz cel processor, 256mb ram, 40gig hard drive,
wireless wi-fi G, dvd+ / - writer, 15" screen, winxp, tv out, modem, ethernet, loads of software for an incredible

£350 icon_eek.gif

Warranty is first 6 mths Somerfield and last 6 mths Medion. The one I saw was in Prescot, Merseyside

Ive got one of these and they are really really good for the price.

And the build quality is excellent, German engineering at its best.

Well my lappy is great and I dislike lappys as a rule, So what do you want
for a price like that, and theres really not much wrong with a celeron.

    Especially at that price.

    My laptop is a Celeron 300 ....... Yes 300 MHz !

It still works for the job I need it to do.

Laptops should only be used for mobile use, and not as a desktop replacement.

If you want power, then get a desktop AMD Athlon 64 machine.

Use mine for both, I have to. Had celeron in the past, and aint a patch on a P4 or even a P3.

I am loking for a new lappy at the moment, was browsing through currys and comet today as we were on the retail park. al advertising low price laptops, and every single one of them in both stores was a celeron.

IF your happy with yours thats great, I wasnt slagging it off in that way, but I think they tend to advertise the processor speed to get your interest, i.e 2.5 ghz laptop for £xxx!!!!! then you see its a celeron which is about the same speed as a P4 1.5 ghz.

PeeWee I didnt ever think you were slagging my PC off, now Ive got to
go and stick it in my freezer to cool it down, :rotfl:

Whilst I like this lappy of mine I will never get another, such a pain upgrading
also overheating etc etc, next time its a Desktop all the way they are so
much easier to upgrade and keep cool etc etc.

I did that, and soon went back to a laptop, I also invested in a £35 wireless router, its great, I can now browse the internet from the garden, the lounge, kitchen, in bed and on the toilet if I want to!!!

I can also sit with the mrs in the lounge pretending to watch X factor with her, whilst sneakily surfing on my laptop!

Your right though they get bloody hot, who ever called them a laptop wants shooting, there is no way I could sit this on my lap for more than 20 mins without getting third degree burns!
