I have just applied for the Monument Visa Card and they have accepted me, but hold on something is not ringing true here, they never asked how long I have lived at my address, they never asked for my bank details, they never asked for any of my previous address’s, they say they have approved me but it sounds too good to be true, anyone else tried or hold an account with them, if so which Credit reference agency do they search?

    IIRC they search Experian.

Monument have notoriously short application forms. I recall getting one and it had my name and address on (junkmail) and all it required was my signature and dob.

It's why the interest rate's so high.

They are a sub-prime lender, so they may have different rules.

However their typical APR could be as high as 30%, are you sure you want one ?

Yes, I hold a Cap 1 Visa with a £500 limit, MBNA etc will not give me a Card, I dont have any adverse credit I just applied for too many things in a short time. My plan is now not to apply for anymore and build up credit rating over the next year or so till all of the searches on my files drop off.

As I said on the other thread, I'm sure you know what you're doing, but if I was you I'd stick with the Capital One card and use a bank card or cash for anything else.

People like Monument are just sharks.

IIRC Capital One report to both Experian and Equifax, so an incredibly good credit building tool.

  • Christ, I didn't know Monument were still going... how'd you apply for the card, if you don't mind me asking?

Good luck, they use Call Credit for the search.
