Just curuious and had a look at their application, it is a short form but it asks for a 'works' number. So it doesn't seem open to anyone retired.
The other thing, when companies do a search on you,my hubby only gave the present and previous address, yet they still did a check on an older address:confused: it must be through ''linked addresses'', seems you can't escape a naughty default:mad:

Just try it, they dont ask for previous address, they do to searches on the Call Credit file, the first is a full credit search and the second is a ID check/Anti-money laundering check.

It seems you have to be in work as it asks for a works number, doesn't give any other options. I'm pretty sure Cap1 have down; homemaker even.

Aye, card is in the post, should get it next few days or so, this could be an opportunity for others to get a card app in if they have no bad with Call Credit.

It will either flag up as a "Linked Address" or if its an actual default, ccj or br then it will flag up in the accounts or public records search.

Like you said, there aint no hiding unless your name is mickey mouse lol:rotfl:

I'm on this board because I got given a Monument Visa card altho when I applied it was called Providian. Now it's called a Barclaycard Platinum Visa which sounds all very swanky but the reality is it's still a card designed for those with a lowish credit score & they will ravage you with the interest rates.

I started off with a £500 credit limit & because the minimum payments were on direct debit my credit limit got raised every few months until I eventually had a limit of £4,000.

I worked out that they had raised my limit by 800 % & not once did they ask whether my income had increased - which & it hadnt -.

Last August I was late with a payment which put me over my limit, i caught up again & despite only ever having made minimum payments & with my balance only just under the limit, in October they started ringing me up & trying to sell me more products like membership to leisure facilities.

My interest rate is 29.9 % & i'm just about to embark on a mission to reclaim the payment protection which they sold to me on the basis that if I died my 3 yr old would be responsible for my debt.

This lender is morally repugnant for purposely targeting those either on low incomes or with low credit scores & I cannot stress enough that they will suck you in then crucify you.

I also have a capital one card with half the interest rate & their attitude to lending is completely different, as soon as I only started making minimum payments they put a stop to the credit increases hence I owe £1,000 less on that card & at half the interest rate. I'm currently snowballing & paying off capital one first so I can then transfer the barclaycard balance onto the capital one card & stick 2 fingers up to them. That thought alone keeps me motivated to throw every spare penny at the debt :p.

Makes me sick that I got sucked in but if this cautionary tale stops just one person from going down the same route then I consider that my experience was not in vain.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE dont do it.

Surely you should be paying off the higher rate card first - if the Capital One card has a lower interest rate, then pay the minimum on that and throw all your cash at the higher rate Monument Card.

Also, why no apply for a new 0% card or low rate LOB card to transfer the high rate Monument debt to. The you can say goodbye to Monument once and for all.
