    Hi proliant,

just thought I'd drop in to give you an update on my situation :

Checked out my credit score & was stunned to discover it appears to be good. Feeling optimistic I thought I'd apply for the virgin 0 % balance transfer card with a view to ditching the 29.9% apr barclaycard:D .

I got turned down :o but they suggested I apply for aqa with an interest rate of 34 %. That's the highest I've ever come across & needless to say I'm now looking at my Barclaycard with a renewed fondness;) .

Think I'm just gonna hope I dont have any emergencies in the next couple of years & get on with snowballing in interest & balance order from now on.

Ho hum, nothing ventured, nothing gained ... Lula

That's exactly what they told me too, I will ring them on thursday next week then that has given them over two weeks to sort it out.

Just a quick update, Monument Visa are currently charging 29.9% APR on their credit card, lower than some of the MBNA family of cards, just in case anyone is interested. Oh and just to reiterate that they check your credit record with Call Credit only.

Just been looking at the Monument Website and in the features bit it says

    Amount of credit

Minimum credit limit £500 Maximum credit limit £750 subject to status

I am also trying to rebuild my credit history and have a vanquis card which I pay off in full each month should I apply for a second card and would that rebuild my credit more quickly instead of just 1 card thanks

I have just been declined a card from these people. Haha, things must be worse than I thought.

I need to build up my credit score to be honest and I obviously cannot get accepted for a 29.9% apr visa. I read somewhere there was some sort of 'credit card' which had no credit facility. You topped it up with your own cash and spent it as you please. This would be good for saving for xmas. The company charge you £4.50 a month for using their service but after a year, it goes on your credit file as a 12 month loan and providing i make the 4.50 payment every month, this will only cost £54 for the year and will help people like me build a credit score when there is no more hope.

I would love to do this but for the life of me, cannot remember what the card is called.

If anyone knows, let me know and could you PM me because I will probably forget to check this thread again.

    DannyNixon,

The card is called CashPlus with Credit Builder facility.
