Yay! It worked, thanks for photo pasting tip, much appreciated. With regards to the card being contactless, there is no contactless logo on the front of the card as you can see, and there is no contactless logo on the back of the card either. However.... This is where the plot thickens somewhat, although there is clearly no contactless logo on the card, apparently according to the RBS CS adviser I spoke to, advised that the Child and Co branded card is compatible with Apple pay, but couldn't confirm that the card was contactless... I can't confirm the card's contactless capability until the card is activated (a slip was enclosed with the card, to sign the slip and send back in a pre paid envelope. Have to wait for a phone call confirming activation... My how 1970s). I doubt very much that the card is actually contactless enabled, however I will try it out once the card is activated. If the card isn't contactless enabled then fine, because the card is so different from the norm.

Usually have the contactless logo on the card hence why I have a feeling it won't be. :(

However it will work with Apple Pay as that does not require the card to be contactless, as it is the Apple device itself that is acting as a "contactless" card.
  • I have: Superdrug Beauty Card, Boots Advantage Card, Nectar Card, Tesco Clubcard, 16 -25 Railcard, Provisional Drivers License, Nectar Credit Card, Halifax Debit card, some coins and a couple notes, coupons/vouchers. Did have a H&B card in there but I misplaced it, luckily I still have the one on my keyring.

Apparently I have a lot of points cards...

  • I've a wallet in which I store my loyalty cards. (I'm loyal to pretty much any store that offers them.) I last saw it at the bottom of my shopping bag of bags a week or two back.
My bank card is between the phone & case & my poor keyring has fob versions of loyalty cards.
My credit card is in the CD drawer of the computer and I make a point of not knowing the PIN. (Stops my family hustling me somewhat!)
Does anyone else blink a bit at carrying a wallet?
I did have a purse with sundry plastic, railcard etc & even a giftcard - I did manage to cancel the lot & transfer the money off the giftcard - somehow, I went off purses etc a bit after that.

what I don't understand is that basic debit cards (full authority online cards) are not not eligible for use on Apple pay, only the subject to status offline debit cards which are issued as contactless will work on Apple pay. The Child card I've been issued is an offline card, so if it works on Apple pay then one would assume the card is contactless, and perhaps but very unlikely the Child and Co card design dept opted to omit the contactless logo on the card to preserve "the conservative look" of the card and decided that the contactless logo was too common for their cards? I doubt it however only one way to find out.

Does anyone have a Halifax Reward Debit Card photo? I recently opened an account with them and my card has the contactless sign on it but the chip is smaller than it is for the rest of my contactless cards. Just wondering if this is normal or not?

If it was just about looks they would just put the contactless symbol on the back like American Express do.

I went through the phase of wanting a Child & Co card but RBS is such an awful bank for customer service I decided against it.

You can get a private bank account and deferred debit card with Cater Allen if you have £5k but im sticking with First Direct as my main account as its not really worth it customer service or interest wise to use either.

The VISA logo has been updated on this card, on mine its the old one with the Yellow tip. This throws my (they must be using up stock before they go contactless) idea out of the window. It appears they have actively decided not to issue contactless cards.

Also on this one the chip is much smaller. On mine its bigger.

What are the first six digits of this card, if you don't mind saying? Nothing can be done with six digits.

These are not my photos, from this forum, but shows how design has changed.
