The VISA logo has been updated on this card, on mine its the old one with the Yellow tip. This throws my (they must be using up stock before they go contactless) idea out of the window. It appears they have actively decided not to issue contactless cards.
Also on this one the chip is much smaller. On mine its bigger.
What are the first six digits of this card, if you don't mind saying? Nothing can be done with six digits.
These are not my photos, from this forum, but shows how design has changed.
The first six digits on my card are: 4751 18. I would upload another picture to show the first six digits, however it is a bit a faff to upload pictures on this site:mad::mad:. I was hoping the newly issued cards were contactless, but as you mentioned the card displayed the new visa debit font, so by the looks of it, there is no plan by RBS to introduce a Child branded contactless card. It is strange though because the card is eligible for use on Apple pay (it even shows the child branded card, not a RBS branded card when you register the card) so one would assume that the card would be contactless, even thought it clearly shows on the card it is not contactless. Seeing the two cards above, I personally prefer the old gold coloured card. It would nice if the applicant/account holder were given the option to choose between the gold or navy card.0 -
If it was just about looks they would just put the contactless symbol on the back like American Express do.
I went through the phase of wanting a Child & Co card but RBS is such an awful bank for customer service I decided against it.
You can get a private bank account and deferred debit card with Cater Allen if you have £5k but im sticking with First Direct as my main account as its not really worth it customer service or interest wise to use either.0 -
Well I went off the idea of both on the grounds of service and benefits.
The Cater Allen was tempting because at least you could flash your private banking deferred debit card in the knowledge your £5k had qualified you to be a private banking customer.
The Child & Co had the awful RBS service, plus unless you actually meet the criteria to be a private banking customer of the £100k income/investable assets, getting one makes you a bit like somebody who wears fake designer clothes, whats the point of walking around with a debit card for high rollers if youre a middle age window cleaner who lives with their mum.0 -

Child cards are not for "high rollers", more the legal profession, apparently.
If you want a "high roller" card, you are talking Adam & Company, Coutts, Hoare & Co. Amex Centurion. The banks people (rich people) recognise.
And I'm sure there are even more prestigious banks about, which us poles know nothing of.
Lots of rich middle age men still live with their mum you know.:rotfl: I have seen it.
And I personally would not be seen dead in a "designer label". Even though I can afford it, although I would go without other things.0 -
So you can get a Child & Co account by selecting that branch as your branch location on the RBS website. Will this not also apply if you select Adam & Company also?0

No,
Adam & Company is separate from RBS, although owned by RBS.
You can only select (or used to be able to select) Child as its also an RBS branch, the Adam branch is not. Its not part of the RBS network. Not sure if Adam customers can use RBS branches, but I'm am quite sure if you were to walk into the Adam branch as an RBS customer you would be shown the door.:D
Its all a bit of a riddle with Child, something is occurring.0 -
