No the Halifax one I chose the picture to put on it for free when I opened the account originally. I've never really changed it in all the time I've had it.

If you've got a design on your Halifax card, I think you have to pay £5 when it expires.

I don't think that's correct as this one is a replacement for my last one with the same design on it and I wasn't charged £5 for it.

If I want to change the design on the card then yes I have to pay £5 for them to change the picture on it.

    Old fogey's bus pass.

Hidden away inside I seem to have a €10 German phone card which I'd forgotten about. Wonder if it still works.

Significant by its absence is my Nationwide Select credit card, which now lives at home under the watchful eye of my better half (better with money, certainly... :-) ). This was my idea actually. The balance is zero and staying that way, unless perhaps we go somewhere, or choose to use it for some expensive planned item where we need the Visa purchase protection.

I've gone continental (or gone funny...) and now carry my change, and often a few notes in an old leather purse I got from a charity shop. (It's a strong masculine colour and doesn't look too purse-like, but to my generation, fishing money out of a purse still feels odd. However, it saves my change wearing my pockets out, like it used to. (And falling out when I sat down on a sofa).

Actually, the purse is wearing out, and I bought a replacement, also in a charity shop. It still had some of the former owners possessions in (I'm guessing it was someone who had sadly passed away), including a library card that was much better looking than mine, which is old and very boring looking (but still works). I handed it in to the library. None of my cards is worth photographing, except maybe the Phoenix card, and even that's wearing out.

They most probably don't do an offline card then as mine is 4659 contactless with a 1.5k overdraft.
