Take a look at their website for details

You'd have to put a few pauses in the dial-up number, putting the number above first followed by comma's ,,,,,, you'll have to see if it expects a hash (#) in the sequence.

Yeah it does....so, one number sequence for the number you ring 08081708708, then a 2 or 3 second pause, then the ISP number followed by the hash key, then another pause (recommend 5 seconds, as it can take that long to get a connection).

Hmm - could be possible : I will experiment with my set up and report back :)

    Thanks for the tip...
  • i see..but jow would you put a pause ? is 1sec= 1 comma (,)

i used to do this, using 1899 and a cable line.

i used a US number not a german one. But thier is a fre UK 02 numbers.
It did work fine, but sometimes connecting was difficult

i suggest you search the forum, the last thread was very long and had a lot of good info in.

Sometimes you have to go looking for the answer!!!

How would you do that from an NTL phone though ? You have to dial a separate number first - it's not automatic as it is with BT...
It is clearly stated in my post thet I've used 1899 prefix with a BT line. Nothing was mentioned about NTL/cable.. Other people replying here seem to have used it with the non-BT access numbers. :j
You seemingly can dial the access number followed by a pause (4 or 5 comas) and then your ISP number.
Do I want it? ......Do I need it? ......What would happen if I don't buy it??????

What is unclear, alykhalil, is how you propose to connect to the 1899 connection number without incurring further charges.
You haven't given us any information about your network and contract.
You'll need to provide clear and concise information in order to receive the best possible solution.

my apologies..i thought i did mention that. I use the IrDA port of my laptop and my mobile fone, link then, dial from my laptop Irda port into my mobile fone by a dial-up on a 0845 number. i am with vodafone, 1000 off-peak mins.

so this way a dial-up screen on my laptop, after entering the ISP dial-up number, will dial from my mobile fone but vodafone is too expensive dialling 0845 number. hope i am being clear now. thks...

    Yes, much clearer.
What would be best for you, is if you could find an Orange Everyday 50 SIM card. You'd get 50 free off peak mins daily and it's 1p per min after that. 50p per day. http://www.mobileshop.org/costs/oldorangecont.htm

    Is this your tariff? http://www.mobileshop.org/costs/vodaeve.htm

No need to look around. Orange Everyday 50 is the one... The monthly rental cost is probably similar to what your paying now.
Apart from the free(50 mins) and then 1p per min off peak 0845 number internet access, 0870 numbers are charged at the same rate.
    Very useful.
    Here's are examples for sale:

I have been on Everyday 50 for many years. Are you saying 0870 numbers are also included within the 50 minutes free during off peak and then just 1p / min (assuming still off peak)?
