"Pay as you drive" car insurance
Comments
-
My June bill just came through, mileage charge was 37p with a base premium of £8.56 (so less than £9). I only drive one every week/fornight usually. I had a quick to what 'normal' insurance would cost, cheapest was £234!! This is almost double what I would continue to pay at the current rate with NU. Really sad to lose it. Hopefully NU will make a reasonable offer of insurance for the rest of the year, I only took it out in march. When I had it install they were busy (or at least said they were).0

I'm looking for my first car insurances. Been quoted (for myself only) £2,200 on a 9 year old Peugeot 206.
Been looking for ways to reduce the cost and PAYG seemed ideal as I have no plans to drive 11pm to 6am and while at uni im leving my car at home so disapointed this has been withdrawn. Done some googling and more than do something similar, going to phone in the morning and get a quote and more info. Its called drivetime and the site is http://www.morethandrivetime.com/
Looks like they charge you a base rate, then if you drive after 11pm they charge you £25 for that night
Does anyone have any experances with more than PAYG0 -
I have recently found this website in my quest to find another pay as you drive insurance! says they are launching in autumn, i dont know anything much about them but looks to be good.

anyone else heard of them?0 -
thanks esj
- only just found this thread and had never heard of this method of insurance before. Have registered my interest with coverbox and look forward to (hopefully) saving myself a few more pennies. My current ins is just over £26 a month inc breakdown which I thought was fair but this could be a better option.

Thanks for the info, have registered my interest too.

I've registered too, but there doesn't seem to be any kind of Sat Nav system with this cover.0

Coverbox is GPS - if you mean for driver to use SatNav - can't you continue with the current SatNav deal direct from TM ( if you want to - its seems expensive to me)Any posts on here are for information and discussion purposes only and shouldn't be seen as (financial) advice.0

Yes, that's what I'm doing, and I don't find it expensive. 89p per route, and £10 per month for the Safe Speed Option. (Cheaper than a speeding fine!). I just wanted to know what this other company was offering.0

For the odd 80p thats OK , but if used regularly ( subs) or the camera package seems a bit procy to me when comparing it to a sub £100 sat nav with speed camera included .
DD just came out at flat rate ( they said from 16/7 on my letter - not rec'd an invoice / charge for miles since last bill 1/6 ).
Was thinking about removing the box.. but suppose not really worth itAny posts on here are for information and discussion purposes only and shouldn't be seen as (financial) advice.0 -

They did say in the letter that no more invoices would be sent and just to pay the base rate monthly by DD.0
