"Pay as you drive" car insurance
Comments
-
we were on the trial with norwich unions pay as you drive 4 years ago.
for us, the results were unconclusive so we decided to go elsewhere at renewal.
we still have the receiving equipment fitted to our car after many requests to remove it 3 years after the trial ended.
Doesn't really matter because it will have been disconnected. They left mine in my old car, when I changed it. You would think they would re-use them, wouldn't you?0 -

Wonder if they will let you keep the Smart Nav and Safe Speed options. I have got quite used to them!0

I hope so - otherwise they owe me £24.11!!!We may not have it all together, but together we have it all

I have no doubt that NU will refund anyone who has paid in advance for Sat Nav or Safe Speed, the question for me is, will I still be able to use these two excellent services.0
-
I emailed NU to ask about the SATNav and Safe Speed options and this is their reply.
"You will still be able to use Trafficmaster services - including emergency assistance and claims reporting. I hope this helps?
In terms of what happens next calls will be made to existing customers in the coming months, your insurance will remain as it is at the moment and we will contact you."
Not too bad then?0 -
can't see them doing mid term cancellations, and if they aren't going to keep the records of mileage.. looks like we will get the coming months cheap... only downside is no renewal. I've got the trafficmaster kit but never subscribed as a bit pricey , suppose just leave it in there.Any posts on here are for information and discussion purposes only and shouldn't be seen as (financial) advice.0

I would have thought that NU would like to keep their PAYD customers happy and offer low renewal options. With regard to Trafficmaster, I paid £25 up front for PAYG Sat Nav and although I don't use it much, it's there if I want it. I also have the Safe Speed option, at £10 per month it's cheaper than a speeding fine!0

It's a shame as I was planning on switching the second car to it as well next time around...though the way things are going with fuel, doubt we'll need the second car....For what I've done...I start again...And whatever pain may come ...Today this ends... I'm forgiving what I've done -AF since June 20070

I should find out soon enough , my current policy expires on 31/07 , have been told my payment for July will be base rate of £2.31 only.
I was looking to stay on the PAYD scheme for next year as I doubt I'll find anywhere that will offer me full comp for an average £5 a month , hopefully, they'll give me a renewal quote too good to refuse.
P.s. Aren't all the smart nav options ( navigation , safe speed etc ) all run seperatrely by Trafficmaster ? if so it should be just a matter of pressing the button and giving the operator the payment details to get the service active.0
