just checked on my earlier link, looks like carphonewarehouse have changed the offer, sorry guys

best to read it carefully as they dont seem to advertise these as recondtioned so are probably brand new but the cashback is less

  • Thanks JSF - I've finally got confirmation that my 6630 from the CPW recon deal is on it's way...

    One happy bunny here

How are people finding the 3 network now?

I've always had Vodafone or O2 but with a son off to Uni next week he has decided he needs a contract phone rather than PAYG. Obviously 500 x mins and 100 texts etc are brilliant deals for the prices quoted (would only consider 12 month contract!) but they aren't good if the troubles with 3 are still around.

Would welcome your views please. Thanks.

    Lara,

I was tempted on a cashback deal working out at £2.49 a month for an NEC616 on 3. I was worried too as they said it was a poor phone on a poor network. Contract was for 500 mins any network and 100 texts. But all I needed was to make a few calls and texts. Have not used my allowance yet in a month.

well have now had it nearly 3 months and while have a poor 3 signal at home which means I cant use the video service at some times, (I dont need that service anyway and it costs extra), I cant find fault with calls or texts as it switches to the O2 network automatically and so far not had problems as the O2 signal is strong.

Battery is poor on the NEC, need to recharge every 1-2 days but you get used to that. Other phones batteries should be OK. Not had to ring customer service yet and dont see a need to really so cant comment on that.

So long as you go to to good company like carphone warehouse they would soon replace a faulty phone anyway during the contact. In other words other than it having 3 on the phone Its no different to the orange, vodaphone or T mobiles I have had but at a fraction of the cost. I had got 14 days to cancel the contract anyway if it didnt work as it should

  • Quick reminder to anyone else who took advantage of the CPW deal on the 6630 (as above)...

My phone arrived today, and looking through the pack I noticed the booklet on cheque-backs is a standard issue - i.e. it doesn't seem to relate to the specific deal advertised on the web.

    Our deal is as follows;

    AUTOMATIC MONEY BACK

£130.05 from CPW --- within 28 days of connection. You do not need to send anything in the receive this.

£45 from '3' --- contribution from the Network Provider, amended to your bill over months 1, 2 and 3. You do not need to send anything to receive this.

    REDEMPTION CHEQUEBACKS

£68.54 --- send 4th airtime bill within 60 days of receipt

£68.54 --- send 8th airtime bill within 60 days of receipt

    TOTAL

You receive a total of £312.12

On a seperate note, I was looking thru eBay and noticed that you can turn it into a Sat Nav for around £50 (GPS device around £40 plus TomTom 5 on card for around £10) with no ongoing subscriptions! Yippee :p
  • How about this offer:

Seems too good to be true, zero cost full term contracts as long as you cancel the insurance.

Has anyone got any concerns on this? It does look very good. e3save wouldn't price match it :-( I should be able to get myself organise enough to send bills in. An 18 months free contract does look very good.

Thanks JSF. The deal I saw included a Nokia phone and 12 month contract. Nokia are very good phones and so I think it's worth a risk.............maybe. I need to check we can change his number over. Mind you I might take out a contract with those sort of mins/texts (not that I would use them all!).

My son is concerned that 3 coverage is only 80% whilst O2 is 99.2%. I just need to convince him ................................you'd think he was paying for it!

    Thanks for your help :).

The site does not give you enough info about cashback and terms conditions etc etc....seems quite dodgy...
Its better to close your mouth and appear stupid, than to open it and remove all doubt...:p

That's all in the terms and conditions section. Seems it is 3 rebates for 12 month, month 6, 9 and 12 and 5 for 18 month. I couldn't believe it when I got a 7600 for zero contract cost either but turned out to be true! Still, will let someone else jump first on this one :)
