You could try putting a brown paper bag/ paper of some sort over the gum, and then ironing on top of the paper?

would a few bursts from an air freshener / deo spray can help to 'freeze' the gum??

cover patch with some paper first.

That's for getting candle wax out :p The wax melts and is absorbed into the paper. I very much doubt it'll work here :D

Try this - Removing gum from clothing. I'll merge the threads later.

failing any of these, colour in with a dark pen, or cover with glitter as ' fashion statement'..?

Put the blazer in a plastic bag before putting into the freezer.

  • The above suggestions are fine and will get most of the chewing gum off. The remainder you can remove with eucalyptus oil. It really works, i was amazed the first time i saw it used.
  • Thanks for these suggestions peeps:T

In the end (and after a glass or two!) I just put the whole thing in the freezer to be done with it:rotfl:

However, Brightonman - I love the suggestion about using glitter! I would love to see the headteachers face when my daughter enters the assembly hall tomorrow!

    Thanks again

  • Hiya,

My darling husband got chewing gum stuck to the elbow of his jumper on the bus

The jumper is Navy and is 100% Acrylic. The only way i know how to get it off is to stick it in the freezer. Therein lies my problem…our freezer died last week and the new one isn't due until Tuesday. is there anything else i can use to get it off?

Any help would be gratefully appreciated, I had a quick search but didn’t seem to come up with anything apart from a LONG list of what people keep in their handbags and a big old debate about giving children chewing gum….:rotfl:

  • Freezing is the best or buy a freeze spray (The one for sports injuries) and try that
