But I concede this is nit-picking.:D
You mention your DD2.
Do you think it is fair on your other child to sit for 2hr+ in a car every day to take big sis to school? How long do you plan to keep this up?
I can't help but noticing that although you kept her at her school to be with her mates, your busy timetable doesn't leave any free time to go for playovers...Manners make the man...:D0 -
The village I live in all the children have to be driven to school whether its state or private.
The children's ages are so varied that none are the same ages to play so all the children have friends over or go to friends to play.
So sometimes it isn't just the type of school a child goes to its location too.
Mind you they can board at private schools.£2 Coins Savings Club 2012 is £4.............................NCFC member No: 00005.........

My 12 and 14yr old are state educated at a selective school. Thier friends do come from all over the city, BUT because they travel by bus there is a bias towards friends that live locally to meet up out of school hours etc. It also means they have a friendship group that is not necessarily just their year group, which seems great esp for DS (who plays playground rugby with kids much older than him etc).
Hi
I wasn't really making any general point in my post TBH, just agreeing with the other poster that having friends living close was an important consideration for me too. I do appreciate that not everyone feels this way.:D0 -

I trust the above covers everythingbut feel free to ask anything I may have missed .
ETA : She is the brightest girl in her class so her schoolwork obviously isn't suffering .
Sorry to nit-pick, but that phrase (in bold) drives me mad, so many people get it wrong (privately-educated or not). I really must mention it, especially as this thread is about education.
I think you mean your DD does it all off her own bat (a sporting term, originally).
I am not the only one, it is the first post on this thread about grammatical errors:

TBH, I really don't get this pedantic very often but that phrase bugs me even more than 'should of and could of' - although it's not as bad as referring to children as 'feral' or 'dross' I suppose, as an earlier poster did.:rotfl:PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Well I left home at 8am this morning ,stopped at the shop for 5 mins , got stuck at the other end down the country lane for 2 mins or so and pulled up outside the school at 8.37am and was travelling at approx 56 mph all the way there , did go up to 65mph at one stage to overtake a lorry but the speed frightened me :rotfl: (only joking). OH works 4 on 4 off so on his off days she stays at home with him if she wants to , and she comes with me to the after school clubs so runs around there as well . This will be going on for at least another 8 years as DD2 starts at the school full time in January when she is 3 1/2 yrs and I am still no nearer to making OH move closer as his excuse is where we live now is easy for him for his work
She didn't do ballroom tonight so we came home after popping into my brother who also lives only 10 mins from her school , all my family are down here as this was where she was born and raised till the age of 4 , got home about 6pm , she played out till 7pm and has just done her homework , is finishing watching Eastenders and will go to bed in a few minutesBaby Thomas born 3 months early by emergency section on 21/1/09 weighing 1lb 15ozs .

I think the main conclusion I have from this debate is...unless you have first hand experience of the private education system it is difficult to see the full picture. Especially as the private schools change as the children move from prep to senior school.
It is very hard for parents who only focus on the academic results, longer holidays and Saturday school to see all the private system has to offer.£2 Coins Savings Club 2012 is £4.............................NCFC member No: 00005.........

I'm sure you're right!:D I can't see past those big bills:cool: I do also think that many with kids in the private sector can't see what the state system has to offer either.:D Stale mate.:rotfl:0
