If you buy into the private sector you are trying to buy an advantage for your kids at the cost of everyone elses, particularly the poorest kids in society. So if you find a few people who don't want to support you in your pursuit why would you be surprised?
A strange statement. Not trying to buy but successfully buying a different type of education.
If I choose to pay to educate my children privately. That leaves less children in the state school class room. So there is the advantage for state educated children smaller classes.£2 Coins Savings Club 2012 is £4.............................NCFC member No: 00005.........

The truth is that plenty of kids (including my own:D) do very well at state schools and there is plenty of evidence to back this up. Thus, you are probably wasting your money but you don't want to hear this as you are blinded by your own predjudices. I have no objection to people wasting their money, feel free to do so. But don't let your own blind predjudices write off a whole sector of education and insult the intelligence of the rest of us who choose to use this sector as if we somehow can't work out who's getting the inferior product.
Do you think all these people with money to spare in educating their children would send their kids to these private schools if they wernt any good ?
I think most people would send their kids to private school if they could afford it .0 -

I'm sorry, that's a nonsense. I don't have any feelings for or against private as a whole as we have done all methods of educating here but taking your child out of state schooling doesn't result in smaller class sizes for those left in state schools. It is so laughable to even make such a claim that I nearly didn't reply but I don't think anyone should think they are doing any favours to state educated kids when they choose to go private.0 -

Hi
We could easily afford to send our children to private schools and we choose not to. The state system is great. Do I think that people would send their kids to private schools if they weren't any good? Yes, because people do all sorts of illogical things like buying expensive beauty creams that don't work and having face lifts.0 -

There is far more to educating your children than to have them pass exams, and this, I feel is the benefit to a good private school against agood state school.Filiss0 -
If people want to spend their money on Private education. That is up to them. The OP is most upset and as a newish poster that is out of order.i often find on this website that your opinions and views if they are a bit off the scale are often subject to a barrage of abuse.
Why ?????
Your views and opinions are that ? Yours !!!!!!!!!!!
Dont make it wrong !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!0 -

She was referring to giving the financial implications consideration.
IMO the OP did not dismiss the state sector in the way that you have voiced a very negative attitude to the private system overall. It is also not full of rich kids fyi. I know of a single SAHM living in a council flat whose son goes to private school just as I know a handful of people on 'high' salaries and living in houses worth in excess of £1m who say they couldn't afford it even if they wanted to. I have another friend who earns £12k and has 4 kids in the private system (probably on full bursaries). If I didn't actually know these people, I wouldn't believe it. In the main, it is about choice, priorities and determination for those so inclined. I would not assume it is an easy ride financially for those who (make sacrifices to) choose this fee paying route.0 -
