right well back fromt he night shift and have spent a wee while looking at diesel prices and food prices...hubby is taking the car away to get fixed agin (hopefully this will be it done this time) now i was reading the paper and i think it was martin that was talking about ways to save money (he was in the paper but i aint sure if this bit i am going to tell you about was him or not) and it said that if you drive 60 instead of 80 on the motorway you could save up to £519 (or something like that) a year on diesel ...so i decided to put this to the test so on the way home i did what it advised ...brake as little as possible stay in a high gear dont drive over 60 and i saw my mpg gauge go up by over 1.5 miles now that was impressive to me so i came home and checked petrol prices.com and the cheapest is on my way home so tomorrow morning i will put another £20 in the car (it needs it already)0

Hi El
Yes, I think he wrote a piece in his blog about when he was on holiday with the MSF, he motored for one week in the normal way, and for another week thinking really carefully about driving to save money - it made about a third difference, it was quite striking - hunt back through recent blogs and you should find it - good luck to you!2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Mr.B has been driving at a lower speed as well..so he tells me, but just thankful the prices have gons down a bit..i have not filled up my car yet..am hoping for a further reduction, Am also sorry to hear about the repairs as wel..there are some robbing gits out there..
Catch up with you later EL xBlackadder: Am I jumping the gun, Baldrick, or are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?
Still lurking around with a hope of some salvation:cool:0 -
Those are amazing savings - not sure if I can manage to drive at 60 on motorways though - will have to retrain my "girl racer" tendencies!!0
