I think I just like the idea of no cooking, and minimal clearing up :o

yeah - second that - two of my favourite things - sweet and sour and bounties (though not together!) - so should have a go at making them at home!

El - fab news about the uni app - go for it girl! As has been said - maybe just maybe the redundancy is just opening the way for you to follow your dreams.
  • I used to like the hunky men on the bounty adverts..but that's a whole new thread!

right the bounty recipe (or jobby whatever you want to call them ) very very easy this ...dessicated coconut condensed milk and cooking chocolate ...put coconut into a bowl add in condensed milk (try not to eat it all before you do)mix till the milk completely covers coconut and is not runny melt milk chocolate make the coconut milk mixture into shapes (jobby's etc) i put most of mine into round sphere's kinda like maltesers then let them dry you'll love it ...i tend to eat the mixture though so only manage to make half lol ...but it does make a good few

will look out the sweet and sour and post next ...
  • thanks very much, wonder who's jobby it looks like? David Tennants?

Ok this is the recipe for sweet and sour chicken

Right first let’s make the thin and crisy batter

    Basic batter
    4 oz self raising flour
3/8 pint of milk or water
2 pinches of salt and pepper
    1 teaspoon oil
2 drops egg yellow colouring (or an egg yolk if you prefer)
Some people like bicarbonate of soda added to make it puffy choice is yours

    Method

1 Mix flour salt and pepper into a bowl
2 Make a well add the water or milk
3 Grdually incorporate the flour beat to a smooth mixture ,add 2 drops of egg colouring (egg yolk if you prefer) then add the oil mix for a minute

4 Allow mixture to rest for atleast half an hour before use

Next is the sauce for the meal

    3/8 pint water
Approx ¼ pint white malt vinegar
1.5 – 2 tablespoons tomato puree (right forget the puree hubby says tomato sauce is much nicer)
    Approx 2.5 tablespoons sugar
Approx 1 desert spoon ginger juice (will tell you how to make this soon)
    2 teaspoons cornpaste
2 oz carrots (grated and soaked in vinegar and sugar for atleast24 hours ) optional
    1 ring pineapple

    Method

1 Boil water vinegar and sugar in a suitable pan
2 On a low heat, add tomato puree stirring constantly and then add the ginger juice
3 Simmer for a few mins more, then lightly thicken with cornpaste
4 Finally add the carrots and pineapples in the sauce

Now what I will say is some people might find it too sweet if so put in less sugar some people might find it to vingery likewise less vinegar this is something you will get right through trial and error everyones taste is different this is just a genreal recipe …..

    Now for the meat

3 medium or 2 large chicken breasts baton down with a heavy knife
Half to three quarter pint water and salt

    Method

1 Bring to boil the ater and salt add the chicken and poach on a very low heat for 5 mins
2 Turn over sides of chicken and poach for another 4-5 mins check to see if it is cooked through
3 Take out and leav to cool
4 Dry out with tissue paper (if you want to make it bit size , then cut the breast into finger sizes then half again)
5 Pass the breast or bite size through seasoned flour (flour with a bit of salt and pepper) dip into the batter then deep fry

Ok final thing the ginger get some from asda (or wherever)
Thinly peel the ginger ,cut into small chunks and put into a food processor, grind into a smooth paste or alternatlvely scrape ginger with a cheese grater over a fine mesh strainer. Using your thumb, press the ginger paste extracting the juice, this can be stored in a small plastic or glass container with a lid for up to two weeks in a fridge or frozen in the fridge

I know it might seem like there is a lot to do to make the meal but it is really easy honest

I have loads more if anyone wants any including fried rice lemon sauce (for lemon chicken )
