I have a blog kindly sent my squizz, miz ( bit of alliteration there) about the walk..one of the things she did was to send food parcels on ahead to hostels and such. Tent wise i reckon it will be mixed as in some nights hostel, then DFWs houses ( tehehe) Hotels and also partners can cart stuff in turn in cars etc! We can have a bit of a plan over the next couple of years!Blackadder: Am I jumping the gun, Baldrick, or are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?
Still lurking around with a hope of some salvation:cool:0 -
i was thinking it would be good if we had our partners (or family members) staying a week with us(one at a time so we have help the whole trip) they can take our stuff each morning to the next stop that way each of us get to touch base with our loved ones on the way .....think i mentioned this before bob (not sure though) i like the idea of sending food parcels ahead thats smart thinking...i have found a really good site i think ...
http://www.landsendjohnogroats.info/ plenty of advice there ....tells you how many miles he walks per day etc let me know what you think...there are even things you can get to prove you did it0 -
Thats great news about DS! Just looked at the John o groats website DH just said it right if we want to do it in 6 weeks. Its 26.5 miles a day. Thats a marathon a day :eek:Isn't the knowledge that comes from experience more valuable than the knowledge that doesn't?0

Well done DS!
26 miles a day is way too much!! Looking at the ones I have found they seem to average 12-15 and take 3 months! Mmmn - could be interesting. Don't fancy cycling it....???0 -

I'd fall off a cycle - assuming I got on it in the first place. I reckon 15/16 miles a day is enough tbh. (unless I drive the relief car!)0 -
Excellent news on DS getting into Uni :TSuccessful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0

there deff seems to be a problem with the time and amount of miles per day we will need to walk ......we dont have forever so we need to be realistic but at the same time a marathon a day is far far too much we would get exhausted within a few days .....right thinking caps on people ...the guy from the link seems to think that 3 months is the right length of time for the walk ...and cycles oooo i dont know if i can do that lol0

Do it in stages?
Do coast to coast rather than end to end?
Cycle??!
3 months is a long time to take off. Would be lovely to imagine doing it but realistically bills need to be paid and even with all my leave that would be nearly 2 months unpaid!
Did you watch the guy cycling round the world? Did look painful but then he was trying to do 18000 miles in 195 days!!:eek:0 -
it is deff a quandry to be honest i really fancy the full thing in the one go sort of a personal accomplishment but three months is a long time isnt it ....0

Can we look at doing smaller parts at different times?Isn't the knowledge that comes from experience more valuable than the knowledge that doesn't?0
