  • Shopping has been delivered and duly put away, the adsa man tried to give me some shopping that didn't belong to us; normally I just sign that it's been delivered and don't bother to check. Good job I did as out of the three items, there was only the mince that would have been any use.

I have applied for an e-saver with Alliance & Leicester, I did it via Quidco so hoping to earn some cash back there and I ordered a deep fat fryer yesterday from Curry's via Quidco as our last one died completely, so there's 94p to come from them for that, I'm not sure how much you have to earn before you can redeem the money but anything earned that way is going straight into the e-saver.

So far today, no money spent which is a good thing as I don't have much in my purse.

This afternoon apart from a bit more housework, I will be playing with the kids and making dinner.

Tomorrow £1 will be spent as it's playgroup day although I bumped into one of the other mums the other day and she said that there is no playgroup next Friday as there will be no one to open up, not ideal but at least it'll save me a £1.
  • Morning all,

Another day has arrived but hey at least it’s the weekend.

DH was rather ‘off’ with me this morning as we had a bit of a spat last night but don’t know if much of it is because of the situation about the loan, he was even rather curt with the children, which isn’t like him. Time will tell I guess.

DH even made sandwiches this morning, when I asked him if he was going to take the left over spaghetti bolognaise he complained that it was ‘too sweet’, I think that he was just using that as an excuse but at least he’s not buying lunch so that’s something.

Got playgroup this morning with DD whilst DS is at pre-school, so £1 to be spent there. I got from Tesco’s last week some frozen beef steak with peppercorn sauce, one of their own brands for £1 each, I thought that we could have it tonight for dinner for a change.

DH is working at the flying club on Sunday and has a free flight on Saturday, I say free because he’s been invited to go flying by one of his mates who also works there.

So far this morning I have done one survey and DH has done one. Going to do the clicks when we get back from playgroup but need to think of other ideas to earn a bit more money.

Haven’t done much on the no spending this week but don’t think that I have consciously spent much. Will make a proper go of it again next week when I’ve got my head screwed on properly again.
  • Morning,

Another dull day outside but at least it isn’t raining, saying that though, I’ve probably just jinxed it and the heavens will open.

Never mind, despite DH being in a strange mood yesterday morning he seemed brighter by the evening and even better this morning.

The kids and I went to the site yesterday afternoon as DS wanted to see daddy, it was a bit of a waste I guess because we drove for half an hour to Croydon and I paid £1.80 to park in the car park for half an hour and DS managed to wangle some Smarties out of DH too.

Yesterday we received the Gas & Electric bill - £419.74  definitely need to sort that out and see if I can get us a cheaper deal with some one else.

I know that hubby’s family have kindly given us a month before we think about starting to repay them, but I think if by the time DH gets paid again we have some spare money I will put it aside and add it to the first official payment the following month.

Next Thursday is our fourth wedding anniversary :j and the week after DH’s brother is getting married, I need something to wear for the wedding so may have to have a mooch around the charity shops and see if I can pick up a blouse to go with some trousers I have hanging in the wardrobe.

DH gave me a £2 coin last night and this has been put in the terramundi, still can’t decide what to do with it once it’s full. My brother is getting married in November so if it’s full before then I guess I could use some of it to get an outfit and the rest put towards their wedding present and then if any spare put it in the savings.

My plan for this coming week is and I will try and update the list once I have achieved some thing off it, is as follows:
    • DH packed lunches
    • Anniversary card and wedding card
    • Surveys and clicks
    • Order shopping online – doubt much needed this week
    • Get veg and fruit from [STRIKE]local shop[/STRIKE] going to get from market instead.
    • Go to charity shops to hunt for a blouse
    • Go to Argos and get vouchers for BIL
    • Sort out paperwork and shred unwanted stuff
    • NSD – Wednesday, Thursday and Friday (hopefully)
    • Sort out gas/electric switching
    Have a fun weekend everyone.
  • Had a sort of argument with DH this morning, I think he’s having a mid-life crisis as I put up a very funny pic of him on Facebook and he went berserk saying he didn’t want private stuff plastered over the internet. Good job he doesn’t know about my diary then isn’t it…this and the forum are the only things that keep me focused on us being debt free.

Anyway DH has now gone to work at the flying club so peace has been restored for the moment.

Today the kids and I are off to see my favourite SIL, out of DH’s many siblings she’s the only one that I get on with and is a good laugh too. Her grandchildren will be there and as they are the same age as DD and DS they all play together and leave us adults in peace. Oh and she’s making lunch too.

I have already made dinner for DH and I for this evening and it is in the oven and the timer has been set to come on later this evening….a NSD today all round

Very proud of myself as this week we have not had takeaway at all, okay one day a month might not be so bad but am really trying to ensure that we save some money.

Anyway, enjoy whatever you do today and have fun.
  • Evenin’ all,

We are back after a very tiring and long day; traffic wasn’t too bad either but I have used a little under ½ tank of petrol, so will need fill up tomorrow as my light is on.

We nipped in and saw DH on way home and he seemed to be in a chipper mood, the kids loved seeing him and the aeroplanes even if it was a bit on the chilly side.

Nothing got spent today, I really should have taken SIL some flowers down when we went but by the time we left we didn’t have time to stop off and get some.

Update on money side of things, I totalled up that I drew approximately £30 out of the bank during last week and I have £8.20 left, out of that money I am going to put the 20p in to the pot and get £5 worth of stamps for the Tesco card and £3 I will put in the terramundi and tomorrow I will draw £30 out again and see how I go on.

You said earlier that DH doesn't want to cancel the credit cards just in case of emergency, and that there is £50k limits on there - that is one heck of an emergency to be ready for........

Surely an emergency card should be enough to get the car fixed, or the boiler replaced if it blows up.......£50k could be too tempting for him to spend on other things and before you know it you are maxed out again.

Yup I know what you mean. His thinking is that the emergency could be that the house blows up or an emergency to do with the kids or something along those lines. I just rolled my eyes at him, he knows that I do not under any circumstances want another credit card statement through that we have to pay...all hell will break loose if that happens and it will be an emergency of the A&E kind for him.

The £50k limits are spread over the four cards, not on each I should add.

Capital One keep sending me a statement with Zero to pay through since DH got a card with them, I think that they want me to start spending again.

I think you may have to be strong on this one and get rid of some of that available credit.......

If it is there for spending, the definition of an "emergency" may be blurred a little.........and you are back to square one!

Perhaps sit down and make a list of potential "emergencies" that apply to your family, and reduce the available credit to that level?

Good idea, he stated yesterday that he was going to cancel the Goldfish one as they have now been bought out by Barclays and he hates them with a vengence.

I think that the fact the we were loaned this money has made him wise up a bit to understand that we haven't got all this disposable income anymore and that we/he need to stop spending.
  • Well its Monday once again…even though I’m at home I still feel like things are as hectic at it would be if I was at work. However I am full of enthusiasm today and I am hoping that this will carry on throughout the week.

Anyway on to today; DS is at pre-school this morning and I have a mountain of things that I need to get done.
    • Go to dump and get rid of stuff bin men won’t take
    • Tesco’s for milk, yogurts, cream, poppadoms and beer for month (this was forgotten over weekend)
    • Ring Pontins and check where holiday place is
    • Sort washing and put away kids clothes
    • Attempt to go through paperwork and shred unwanted and make the conservatory look like it should do.
    • Housework to be done
    • Surveys and clicks
    • Sort out dinner for tonight and lunch for DH tomorrow

DH has taken left over beef casserole for lunch today and a mountain of snacks out of the fridge, so that will keep him busy whilst he’s running about on site today.

Will update later to cross things off my list and to update my progress.
