Went to Tesco's and spent £36.62, after £6 voucher taken off total, but have taken it off my shopping list so that I don't buy double. I was hoping that I wouldn't have needed to buy much and that what we had would last but when I do the shopping list I constantly forget to add things that I know we need  Anyway, I definately do not and will not go to Tesco's again this week, the shopping is being delivered on Friday or it will be when I've booked the slot and I will make double sure that everything is on it.

On the other hand I did sell one item on E-bay that I didn't expect and two of my other items have watchers, so hoping they sell.

Further to my earlier update, I had to spend some money, I needed some box folders and a lever arch folder for the paperwork, got loads shredded and the shredder now is making a funny noise so I doubt that it very well.

I needed to buy some brown paper so I can send my item off as well; total spent £11.97!!!! In my change from Woolies however I got given FOUR £2 coins, which I am determined not to spend I have a £10 note left in my purse so I am going to see how far I can make that last before I have to use one as I want to try and put them in my terramundi.
  • Woo hoo! another item sold :) Must get them posted first thing tomorrow.
  • Thought that I should update this as I haven’t been about for a few days.

I opened an e-saver account with Alliance & Leicester via Quidco; this is for the start of the savings, they are offering a good rate of 6.5% at the moment. This is initially for our emergency fund…so far there is £10 in there, I have £24.71 in Quidco and when they eventually pay out that will also go in.

Have also looked at changing gas/electric suppliers and have got one quote from E: on via Cashinco and need to discuss with hubby if he is okay with the switch going ahead, E: on reckon they can save us £281 per year (I think), so don’t think that it needs to be ignored.

I have now got £10 in my Paypal account after my £50 withdrawl, however £4 of that will come out in E-bay charges so need to try and get some more stuff photographed and up on there.

DH is still keeping up with the surveys and although there isn’t a lot coming through for him at least we are getting somewhere slowly. Hopefully DH will have enough over the next few months that we can put them towards Christmas, managed to get him signed up to Lightspeed today via Pigsback, so when he gets home he can have a look.

DH told me that when the expenses come through he wants the money to go as an extra payment off the loan, so that will be a huge chunk off first thing when we make the first payment next month :T

Out of the £10, I confess I bought a basket and some candles as I am going to make one of DH’s sisters a candle basket for Christmas as she loves those sort of things.

I feel like I’ve hit a bit of a brick wall at the moment as the house is suffering due to lack of concern other than to try and come up with ideas to make and save money.
  • Morning,

Today is our 4th Wedding anniversary so I am planning to make this evening very special for DH ;)

Tonight we are having steak, something that we haven’t had for ages. DH managed to sell his old PDA? for £40 to one of his colleagues on site and as such we are using that money to get steak and a nice bottle of wine for dinner. Think that I might also dig out some candles for the table, I am going to have to get the dust of them first :)

On to today, DS is at pre-school this morning and DD and I are going to the market in the next town to get some veg and fruit as well as the butchers and Tesco’s.

I also have upstairs to tidy and hoover today so that will be this afternoons’ little task

DH has also agreed with the switch over for the gas and electric, so need to do that this afternoon too, when I checked with E.ON they are also offering clubcard points £1 for every £1 saved (I think) so well chuffed about that as it will come in very handy.

Anyway, hope every one has a superb day and I will update later.
  • Happy Friday and another long weekend to boot.

Well I didn’t get chance to update yesterday afternoon as things got very busy.

DD and I went to the market yesterday and bought some fruit and veg and it cost us £4.50, a bit dear but considering most of it will last us a fortnight, I think we got a fairly good deal, will just need to do a top up of the fruit as both kids love the stuff :)

Shopping is being delivered this morning, total cost for that was £35.28 and that includes some alcohol, very pleased there as am really trying to keep costs down to a minimum.

Out of the £40 from yesterday, I spent £30 on steak…it was fillet but managed to get enough that we can have some for another day, so no waste there. Totally overspent as the wine cost £25 for two bottles, but you only have an anniversary once a year and this will probably be the only time we get to treat ourselves.

DH got lots of surveys from Lightspeed and now has 900 points in one go! I have set him up a Paypal account so that it can all go in there, although I might suggest to him that he saves the points up so we can get another voucher towards Christmas.

Haven’t managed to switch the gas/electricity yet, this I am planning to do today and get it sorted.

DD desperately needs some nappies so this afternoon the kids and I are going to Boots to get some, using my points of course. She seems to be showing an interest in using the potty as any chance she has to take her nappy off and sit on it she will do, so I reckon by Christmas she’ll be out of them totally or just wearing them at night. My points will be all mine then.
  • Afternoon all,

Have had a fairly successful day today, so am very pleased.

Have done the switch with the gas and electric and moved them from Scottish Power to E.On, have done it through Quidco and have got £55 to come from them and clubcard points in the sum of 1409 from E.On, not much but will go towards Christmas.

My mum also wanted a new filofax and diary, so I also got them through Quidco, so £2.35 to come back there. This extra money is going to go in the savings and will eventually build up our emergency stash.

I got a bumper load of nappies and bubble bath from Boots for the little monsters and used my points there that saved us £20.

I am beginning to feel that there is light at the end of the tunnel, I just need to concentrate and keep working on it.

Hope everyones Friday is going well too.
  • Morning,

After a great day yesterday and the feeling that things are slowly coming together I am feeling motivated…plus reading Hypno’s diary this morning has helped.

I have checked Quidco this morning and there is £82 to clear with them, so that is a big boost to the savings when they pay out :)

Food in total for this week was £40 but need to sort out for being delivered on Thursday, as BIL is getting married on Friday of this coming week so need to find a blouse and get DS a shirt to wear as well.

So this is the plan for the coming week.
    • House work (Boooo!!!)
    • Order food shopping and keep eyes out for deals
    • Surveys and clicks
    • Lunches for DH
    • E-bay like mad
    • Get rid of some stuff to charity shop that hasn’t sold
    • Card shop to get a wedding card
    • Try and have NSD's as much as possible this week
    • Meal plan for the week

I have also got £25 M&S voucher to come from More Than in July for taking out Home Insurance with them that is going towards Christmas when it arrives.

    Have a fun weekend everyone.
  • Afternoon,

Haven’t been on for a while as things have been very hectic here over the weekend.

Today I have listed some of the videos on Amazon just to see if any of them will sell, this is my last chance to get rid as I am fed up of them hanging about and will therefore take them to the charity shop if they do not go.

DS has expressed a wish to spend more time with either his daddy or with me without his sister being there, understandable I guess so DH has agreed to take him out on his own for a few hours at the weekend and I have told DS that I will take him swimming once a week, I have had a look at the local leisure centre and they have reasonable rates for membership, so I thought that I’d apply for that as I can also take DD on a Monday morning once DS is at school and get her used to the water.

From my list I have already ordered the shopping to come Thursday afternoon, I used one of the codes from the other board so have saved on delivery there; total cost was £57.13, DD and I are going to get the fruit and veg again like we did last week as that was really worth it.

Have had to spend some money though today, I bought a new top and shoes DD a t-shirt and DS two shirts for the wedding on Friday; total spend was £35.

In the post today DH got a cheque for £22.15 for some shares that he has, he has been talking about cashing them in but I think that he needs to keep them for the moment but we’ll see.

I made a lasagne for dinner last night and have enough sauce that the kids had Spaghetti bolognaise for dinner today, DH took some lasagne for lunch, I had some for lunch and there is some left over sauce in the freezer for the kids.

Hope everyone had a great weekend.
  • Afternoon,

Not much to report but I thought I’d better update so I can keep track of things.

DD has contracted chicken pox, so myself and her are unable to go to the wedding tomorrow…which is a shame but DD and DS are going, so they have instructions to take plenty of pics….I want to see the wedding cakes (snooker table and dart board apparently)

I paid in the cheque that came the other day and have transferred it over to the new savings account, I have a £10.17 cheque and another one to come through from my mum for things bought on her behalf off the internet, I will pay in both once the second cheque arrives and I have £5 to come from Ciao which I am waiting on before I close my account with them and will transfer the money over to the savings.

Talking of my mum, bless her…she sent some things down for the children and also sent £40 for DH and I so with instructions to buy something nice to eat and drink! I am tempted to just bank the lot, but my mum would be disappointed if we did that, so some steak might get bought over the next few weeks.

Have filled up my car again today and have now decided that enough is enough and unless the weather is ghastly, I am going to walk with the kids thus getting fit at the same time. I don’t need to drive during the week apart from going to the next town for the market and swimming with DD on a Monday and DS on a weekend.

Shopping is being delivered this afternoon and fruit and veg cost £9.00 today, next week will be fairly light as not much needed, so far.

DH gave me four £2 coins this morning, so they have gone in to my terramundi; which is rapidly filling up.

We are slightly overdrawn already but DH gets paid again on the 15th and I am hoping that this month I can get plenty sold to counter act with the loan coming out.
