    Well hello there possums. :D:D

Glad you finally tried Anzacs angel. I'm sure you've made Twink very jealous. :p

My recipe for Anzacs has 190g sugar in it. I've never noticed them too sweet before. But I would just experiment next time and use less than the recipe you have.

P.S. It's Anzac Day here on Friday. Guess who will be making a batch then. :)

    Thanks

the recipe i was given pretty much says 1/2 cup of everything and 1/2 tbs of syrup but i may of added a bit too much syrup as that was a guess but not much more than the 1/2 tbs so i dont think that would of done much and with the kids running in and out my kitchen it is quite possible that the cup i used was off as i was using the level inside a whole cup so i might of put too much sugar in think i will try this again but double up so it is all one cup instead of halves.
i have eaten the rest ( would not let the kids have more than one as so sweet bit it did not stop me polishng them off lol)

do you have a weight recipe either in grams or oz rather than cups that i could use? might be safer

and again can i freeze them??
    Still Trying :o

I use Mary Berry's recipe from her Ultimate Cake Book (excellent book btw-everything works).

    To make 36 biscuits
    melt together
5oz marge or butter (butter tastes better)
    1 rounded tbsp golden syrup
    6oz sugar

    Stir in
    3oz self-raising flour
    4oz oats
    3oz desiccated coconut

Mix well, then put heaped teaspoons of the mixture on greased baking trays.

    Bake for 10 mins at 180C/gas 4

Leave to cool for a few mins before lifting off with a palette knife onto a cooling rack.

I might make some for the kids later;)
  • I've given up making anzacs or hobnobs, as I can't stand the arguements  :p I made ginger biscuits yesterday, and they're yummy :D

See, I'd just eat the lot -chocolate and ginger is one of my favourite combinations. Unfortunately I have all the ingredients for these, in fact I have enough to make a double batch. I think these sound like a grown-up kind of biscuit don't you ? I'm sure the flavours will be much too sophisticated for the kids........ :D

You should teach your children not to argue then Pen Pen. :naughty: Off to the bad mothers thread you go. :p

Angel - I have posted the recipe for Anzacs I use in the recipe thread somewhere but I just can't seem to find it atm. I've never froze them so not sure about that. Thriftlady's is different, hasn't got the bi-carb. They are not true anzacs. :D Just wannabe's.
Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia. ;)

See what I mean about arguements

thrifty - the ginger biscuits will be far too [STRIKE]good[/STRIKE] sophisticated for your children. I advise you to [STRIKE]eat them all [/STRIKE]keep them to yourself :T

I've never found anzacs too sweet, we've just finished my last batch here. I use honey not syrup though, it tastes different, and there is bicarb in mine
