We are up - nearly 7 this morning, so positively a lie in. :rotfl: I think i am going to be in for some serious exhaustion when doing night feeds as well. I was in bed for 9ish but took a book, and did lights out at 10ish when DH came up.

Ok - DS dressed by DH while i came down and did cuppas, morning milk and made DH's packed lunch. Cat's sent out for a sprint around. Last night's washing up has been put away. We have all had breakfast, although DS is off his main food again but he does seem to have a nasty cold coming on - really hope i don't get that. DH also brought the hoover downstairs for me so i ca run the hoover around in a bit, but i think i will go and get dressed first. Where has yet another week gone? Is it really a week since my sis cleaned all of downstairs for me?

    Hi Sharon,

I did with the table in the kitchen. It had been previously varnished. I got some fine sand paper, rubbed it down and then simply painted it with a polyeurothane (spelling might be wrong) varnish - let that dry and then gave it a second coat. The p. varnish is heat resistant and lasts ages (did it initially about 25 years ago and then gave it another coating about 2 years ago)

Thanks Soapie, although I dont think I am going to varnish it. Probably oil and wax. What sandpaper did you use? Did you "go down the grades"?

    Morning

Kids have been packed off to school - yippee! they're no bother but it's great when they go back, I love routine lol

Me and OD drew up a plan of financial action last night for me, I'm starting from scratch again cause I've spent the lot :o so initially that means 4 weeks of no unnecessary/frivolous spending just to kick start my savings, then after that still no spending ( I want to get in the habit) but I can buy a bag of chips if I want lol.....so......need to add 'open web savers' to my list which I'm gonna do in a minute (cause I'm keen) then get started, I can manage 4 weeks without spending anything, easy peasy  :D Infact, gonna do a sig as a sign that I CAN do it and that I'm serious.

    Right,

    list:-
    make beds
    hoover through
dry 3 x loads of washing
    pay rent
    get gas/elec
    fill in NI form
    post form ^^
    write shopping list
    get shopping
    phone Eon
go to work for 2 hrs
    phone in hrs for work
    empty maiden/fold/put away
    S&S bathroom
    quick wipe of kitchen
    prep tea
    open web savers

and you have my permission to send virtual arm punches if I even hint at spending something. :D Done the washing associated tasks already....just one more load to get dry, the dry stuff is folded up I'll take them upstairs in a bit when I go up to make the beds etc etc etc amen!

Has anyone ever sanded and refinished a dining table? I have one which is a six seater. I am not sure what sort of wood it is. It's not varnished, I think its just been waxed in the past. It is now looking very sad and tired though and could do with sprucing up. Not sure how to go about it though. Any tips gratefully received.

Whizz over it with a sander.. make sure you go with the direction of the grain.. then either wax it again (which I think looks better) or stain and varnish.. or just varnish.. a polyurethane varnish is more hardwearing than the other stuff.

Or you can oil it.. linseed or teak oil are usually used.. couple of coats left to soak in before applying the next.

    Morning all

Not sure what'll get done today as we had a restless night with DS, he's made up with cold and his neck glands are quite swollen. So very clingy today bless him, quite happy to sit on my knee watching Cbeebies or doing stickers, will try and get him some fresh air later.

Going to keep a list of what I'de done so I don't feel like I've sat on my bum all day like I do most days:rolleyes: So positives done:-

empty the airer of dry stuff, empited TD of undies, S&S kitchen, found all reciepts out, WM on with woolies, pegged out, taken DS to library, got bread, hoovered downstairs

    Must do's
Update spending/banking/dvd rental, polish dining table, make pie, post dvd, ironing

Jill loving the positive post, will try and be more like that too

    Will be back later

Embb - I'm with you on the spending, its scary how much the little bits add up. I've been keeping the spending diary and I've been so shocked where money is going. I've been really good this month and only brought a (cheap) pair of jeans and a posh bag for life, normally I'm buying a t-shirt here and there and spending a bomb, still skint though as its the end of the month but no where I've wasted it. I'll be watching you for spending!!!

Right really must get dressed and out to library

My Mam was 50 last year, weird thinking who could realistically be my Mam :o well is old enough if you know what I mean
It's just as weird thinking who could be my child.
Having to explain things I take for granted (like what Armistice Day meant to my line manager) and finding out I was older than my supervisor's mother.
And of course on-line while we know by the references to children roughly how old people are we sort of ignore it IYSWIM.

One at school but the ATM machine wouldn't work kept declining my card:mad: so no money for homework club until later. DS1 seems alot better today so back to school for him tomorrow. OH has appointment at GP's this morning about him holding his breath while sleeping (hopefully they will take it seriously) and his very loud snoring.:rotfl: Well if he's in for one he should sort the other out too.

    Right better get everyone ready.
Sometimes it seems that the going is just too rough.
And things go wrong no matter what I do.
Now and then it seems that life is just too much.
But you've got the love I need to see me through.
