OUCH!!! That sounds terribly painful soappie!!! Can you see them?

DP just walked in the sitting room saying 'hungry' with a box of brownies, the cookies, muffins and the hobnobs so has been warned not to be a pig, because yes he would sit and eat the lot!

Hello, im in again this week - not really managing to follow lists at all as Im at work all day then tired in eveings. also feeling that list are very different to my lifestyle as single person in small flat - seem geared towards large family home? is it worth it to just do my own list or actually possible to adapt the list to suit?

Deep cleaning challenge does need done but may take me process of a couple of weekends to do it rather than a week how can i fit this is,as it moves so fast?

Not sure how well im explaining but of everything that needs done in a house to keep it going - i have less time but less mess? Need a routine but a evening/weekend routine that keeps everything done?

Ive done loads over this weekend but doesnt really fit into lists - some in kitchen, some in living room, lots of decluttering and cleaning so feeling quite good just now :D

Laura what matters most is it works for you, people are always welcome to work to their own lists and many do.

We do have single people on the thread who live alone in a small flat/house, some couples etc aswell, maybe they could offer some experience in what works for them?

    aw shucks guys, thanks :o

The holiday must have done me more good that I thought. Either that or the fact a certain person isn't sitting doing sod all while I slave away is helping LOL He called earlier today and had a good journey and good night last night, They are off to set up their stand at the trade show they are doing then its 4 days hard sell, they work really hard, don;t stop for lunch or toilet barely all day, then go home and burn CDs or go out to get more literature printed etc each night. They are so constricted by luggage limits when flying, they have a pop up stand (!!!) to take as part of their allownace as well as their technical gadgetry that if they can save baggage space by not tkaing CDs and paper but doing it whilst there then so much the better. And of course in the US everythig is open late so its easy to get a print shop to print off thousands of fliers at the drop of a hat and then they just buy CDs sit up til the wee hours burning their software into them to dish out the next day.

But yes I am feling quite darm good today! Even the fact that following my DW giving up last month, my TD belt has gone and I can't fix it so I am TD-less, and now to top it all the Dyson hoover has packed up - even with all that I feel great :)
And the photo printer we have won't read my camera card any more so I can't print off the photo of DS for school. Oh well he will just have to talk about it instead  shouldnt be too much of a problem, he never shuts up at home. Oh and my kettle seems to have a mysterious puddle of water under it, hope it isnt leaking. I mean surey these things dont ever leak do they ?? And our SkyPlus bix is making a very bizarre noise that it didnt used to. This place is just falling apart!!

Yeah the hoover thing, the cyclone turny bit isn't turning. No suction. Nothing is blocked that I can see and I have changed the filters. Any ideas ?
I am thinking it mught be time for a new one, its 10 years old and I have always hated it, its a pull a long one, DH bought it before we moved in together, I prefer an upright one, I hate lugging the darn thing along behind me crashing massive chunks out of door frames etc LOL

Right LO has just woken so off to feed her then to bed. Its back to school for us tomorrow, think we are all set.

Woops that was longer than I meant.
    night all

I've just had an entertaining few minutes reading the 21% off at ikea thread. I can't imagine what it was like on Saturday. We need a bookcase from there but after our last experiences i'm sending my DH
    - I honestly don't think i'd dare go back!!

Mudbath - I live 10 mins drive from IKE*. I have to drive past it or go a 20 mile detour. It was madness on saturday and that was just the surrounding areas. Traffic queuing back for miles trying to get in. I hate to think what it was like inside. I only ever go during the week either first thing in the morning or last thing at night.

JillD quite possible, when my partner is away it's easier sometimes. As for the kettle, possibly, they can crack, empty it then refill looking for cracks/leaks. Sky+ box, mine did that yesterday, I just unplugged it for a few hours and it was fine. If you take the cable and camera into school, if you don't have a cable just the camera, most schools have digital cameras and they might be able to do it for you? I've done that once before when our printer packed in. TD try https://www.ukwhitegoods.co.uk Dyson, depends what it is and if you want it fixed, but they do a great service thing where for £65 they come out and repair anything that needs it which incs any parts and labour, you could try freecycle, there has been loads of vacuum cleaners on our local one offered

Hiya x_raphael_xx - welcome back...I was wondering where you'd got to the other day. I can't imagine a falling down ceiling is a good look!!!

I recently joined the gym, so between that, work, housework & walkies I found it hard to get the time to post & check online. My life is slowly getting more organised, so I thought I'd check in on you lot again.

Davgirl, I am jealous! My DSs are dying to go to Florida, every penny I get at the mo is saved up for that, DS2 wants to go to Disney and DS1 due to his sea life obsession of course wants to go to Sea World, 3 weeks there would be a dream, think we'll be trying to save up for 2. I just hope it's worth it!

Definately worth it lil_me, I went to Florida one Christmas, it was great. We didn't go to Disney but went to Universal studios instead. And Sea world was fantastic, the Shamu show is as impressive as you'd expect.
Going at Christmas time was great as there was no wait for the rides, thou Christmas day was busy because of the parades in the parks.
Check out Busch gardens and Gator land too.

I live on my own in a one bed flat, I find cleaning is a lot easier as there is no-one else there to mess up the place :p I work full time too, and usually just do as much on the list as I feel is needed, or I can cope with. Also cleaning as you go means I keep on top of it, I do my dishes straight after each meal, so there is only cutlery, a plate and a couple of saucepans.

Just try for levels 1 or 2, take off the list what you don't need, and add anything you think your house needs.

Laura - you might find that doing just a little bit in the evening, you get more done than blitzing at the weekend. You'll be surprised at how much you can get done in 30 mins. So say, Monday kitchen, Tuesday living room, Wed bedroom and Thurs bathroom (obviously you can change it around to suit yourself) If you would rather spend a couple of weekends doing a deep clean, then it should be more managable to keep on top of things during the week. I keep to the list because I'm lazy, but if you feel it would make more sense to do your own, go for it! Hope that makes sense.

lil_me - when do you sleep??
:confused:What's sleep? :rotfl:Actually I'm going now, well upstairs, DS1s awake again, monster he is when something changes (back to school tomorrow is all it takes) If I get more than 5/6 hours I feel terrible as that's what I've got used to, DS1 slept for 4 hours ish in every 24 from being about a baby, about 14 months or something. I do usually have one day a fortnight or so where I feel shattered and pop back to bed during the day :o not possible when they were off as DP was busy and studying etc so probably due this week to fall asleep on the sofa.

Laura, SSL has a point, it might be worth forcing yourself to do something when you get in, regardless of how tired you are, or before you go. It will amaze you what can be done in a short space of time when you keep on top of it, I can vacuum the entire of downstairs (living room, dining room, kitchen, conservatory, hall and utility) in under 10 minutes (on a good day when walking doesn't hurt as much!)....just as an example.
One day I might be more organised...........
