Cheap Smell-alikes - Cheaper alternatives to Expensive Perfumes

I can't recall ever seeing any SALs of Anna Sui fragrances at all but there are plenty of Chanel No5 copies around.
I've used 3 different Chanel-alikes from Milton Lloyd and they've all been bang on. A friend of mine used to have their No5, which is called Vogue, and it seemed pretty close to me although I don't like No5 personally.

sofababe, I am with you regarding Chanel No 5. I do not like it all. My dear husband wanting to treat me, bought a huge bottle of the stuff back from a business trip. I did not have the heart to tell him I did not like it. I felt compelled to use it and was heartily glad when it was finished. I would "generously" allow my daughter free rein with it!0 -
Fab find!
Only just discovered perfume oils after seeing Perfume Parlour mentioned on another thread and coming here to find out more (thanks Clairibel!) After reading through all 33 pages I've just placed an order for smell-alike oils of some fragrances I'm very familiar with as well as a few I've never tried but would like to:
Kenzo Flower
Vera Wang Princess
Jo Malone Lime, Basil & Mandarin
Paco Rabanne Lady Million
Armani Emporio Diamonds
Jimmy Choo
Issey Miyake
Philosophy Amazing Grace
Viktor & Rolf Flowerbomb
Ralph Lauren Ralph
Can't wait to see what they're like. Thanks to everyone who posted0 -
love this thread.
About 1-2 years ago there used to be a perfume on avon called 50s GLAM but then it got discontinued. Is there anything similar to it in market now ?0 -
- i.e. with lots of longevity and projection? I have tried several oils. I have mature skin and love fragrances like Clinique Eau Dynamisante and Annick Goutal Eau d'Hadrien, but I find that they wear off very quickly, even with body lotion underneath. And I hate fragrances which seem to be very much based on chemicals IMO as they give me a headache (tried a Vivienne Westwood one yesterday - Alice something - made me feel bit yeuch but did hang around though!)
Any ideas? Oh, I have some oil which is a dupe of Clinique Aromatics Elixir. This isn't bad at all for staying power but is a tiny bit overpowering for daytime I think. In my youth - lol - always found that Estee Lauder fragrances were quite good for lasting power.
Thanks.
Most of the oils I've tried have great lasting power because they're so concentrated compared to the watered down version you pay big money for on the high street.
As for the question of sillage the best ones I've had have been Kenzo Flower, Lady Million, Kenzo L'Elephant, Flowerbomb, The One, Hypnotic Poison, CK Eternity, and Boss Pure Purple. Those all project well and gather compliments from people who have been about a metre away, sometimes more.0 -
Thanks so much Sofababe. I suppose the best thing about Perfume Parlour is the price so that if you try a fragrance but don't like it then you have not lost lots of money. Keep them coming, people! Happy to hear about long-lasting fragrances for men too (to wear as unisex fragrance?) Hadn't realised that this perfume thing is a whole sort of 'culture' -who knew? I liked https://www.basenotes.net and also https://www.thefragranceshop.com where I bought some oils; however it's an American site so the samples are more expensive. BTW they suggested (since they don't do Eau Dynamisante) Eau Sauvage or Chanel Pour Monsieur but don't know whether Perfume Parlour do these dupes and what they are like. Anyone tried?
Brilliant thread, this!0 -

I'm assured that Estee Lauder White Linen is very very similar. I don't like either so I can't vouch for it.
The prices are similar but Perfume Parlour does a SAL of White Linen.0 -
