Cheap Smell-alikes - Cheaper alternatives to Expensive Perfumes

Would someone kindly explain the difference between the oil and spray forms available? How does one go about using the oil?
Additionally, it seems that for most of the male scents available, the price per ml works out to be within a couple of pounds of the genuine article. Do these products last longer than what I could buy in the high street, and if not, how does this represent a significant saving?
Thanks for any help/info.0 -
The oils are more concentrated, so you use less. They come in a small bottle with a roller fitted (like a roll on deoderant). What you are getting is the perfume oil which is then diluted with other things to make the sprayPlease forgive me if my comments seem abrupt or my questions have obvious answers, I have a mental health condition which affects my ability to see things as others might.0

Thanks for the reply, Raksha. Does that concentration noticeably affect the scent? Can anyone comment on which they felt represented better value for money, the oil or the spray?0

..well..that was my afternoon gone! Haha!
I think I've read just about all of this thread and have ordered a few to see what they're like.
Admittedly though - even if I don't like it - I'll still use it up.
I couldn't help but try Flowerbomb (type) seeing as so many loved it.
I also got a mix of others to try..
Tresor (type)- just down to notes within it.
Obsession (type) - I remember the smell from years ago and remember having loved it.
Kenzo Flower (type) - just from what others have said
Stella (type) - wanted to just try it even though some reviews were not too good - but it's one of my favourites.
Managed to navigate the site - with a bit of difficulty - but have the order and payments acknowledgements.
Thanks! :0)0 -
Hi, I have 3 of the sprays . They are nice but don't last long on my skin . I have a few of the oils and they don't last very long on me either . The one that lasts longest is Flowerbomb .Very distinctive . DD had on Baby Grace oil + I could smell it on her + it was nice, but not my type of smell . I think it may be just my skin type. I've liked trying them , have lots left + will use them all in time.0

Perfume Parlour is great and thanks everyone for making me aware of this fabulous site.
On another note, I bought some perfume from poundland last week called "Madonna Diamonds" and it smells very very similar to Armani Diamonds. I got the real thing for Xmas last year and its a very close match and brill value for £1!Comping Fairy bring some luck my way! :dance:Love my Fiance Spiceboy :happyhear:iloveyou:0 -
I ordered an oil recently from Perfume Parlour and i'll admit the scent is the real deal but because its an oil i felt like i was slapping grease on my body:eek: I realise that the feeling of oil won't put many people off but i'm afraid its a no-no for me
Anyway back to Old Spice, Brut and Blue Stratos for me (its all i can afford:rotfl:)

This is my concern too, which is why I was leaning towards the sprays. However, at £8/25ml, the standard bottles from the high street work out being the same price or cheaper, per ml.
How is it people are making the huge savings discussed in this thread?0 -
I don't think it's like slapping grease on. I don't find them greasy at all, and I use them most days. I've tried the sprays and don't like them, they're too weak compared to the originals for me. But I love the oils.I also got a mix of others to try..

Would be interested to hear how you find this. Tresor was my absolute favourite perfume when I was younger, but the one I got from PP was awful. I emailed about it and they said they had had no problems with it so i'm wondering if it's just me and my sense of smell has changed, i've got a dodgy one or they're lying:j0 -
To those who are into designer fragrances and don't like the oils, then Marks & Sparks and Next have a very good own-brand range at reasonable prices. I love M&S's Autograph for Men, though for day to day use i stick to cheapos such as Brut and Old Spice0
