on a side note, the 100 pound buyback (trade in / money back) is avaliable on ALL handsets in the orange shops!:0

Three are quite good as well and do good student deals, you get free phones and only £20 a month I think. Check out the latest deals https://www.three.co.uk0

craig_40 wrote:Yeh, you can still get them, 25 pound mind you. and insted of the 50 pound, its now 100 pound money back! much better value. anyone thinking about aquiring the student deal, get it before april coz it changes and you'll get less mins for your money (which sucks!) plus the 100 pound money back wont be there no more!
the £25 quoted includes orange care. orange care is £5 a month and only entitles you to a free phone as yours is being repaired. even if you have orange care, if your phone breaks within one year, orange will just palm you off onto the manufacturer for the warrenty. this means that if you can live without a phone for a few days as it is repaired you can save yourself £5 a month! or even better, reuse an old phone that you've not traded in for a few days.
generally i have orange care for literally one month and then just cancel as im covered by warrenty if my phones break as im on 12m contracts.:A Boots Tart :A0 -

Onestopphoneshop and e2save
I got an LG U8360 (top of the range phone) on a 12 month contract with 3, this was on the Video, Talk and Text 700 Package, which gives you 400 minutes to anyone anytime, 250 texts, £5 of downloads and 25 multimedia messages (or video minutes).
Normally this should cost £35 a month, but as with all these offers (mainly on these sites) they have offers via redemption. So i got it so i shall be paying £2.99 for 9 months and then £35 for the final 3 months (i am on a 12 month contract).
So that brings the cost to 9*2.99 + 3*35 = £131.91
But i was able to say my dad 'referred me' which means they will send a £30 cheque to my dad (as he had previously purchased from CPW) and he will give me £30 as well, so this brings the cost to £101,91 for 12 months, and that my friends comes to £8-50 a month.
Now for a top spec phone, and all the minutes, texts and everything else, it should do me just fine at uni, and i cannot see myself going over those limits. I was previously on Talk and Text 600 (500 mins and 100 texts) and i had trouble sticking to 100 texts (this was the contract under my dads name - which effectively came to 12 months free contract).
So thats just the HU, however the problem is that the full amount, i.e. £35 has to be paid at the end of each month, and then reclaimed. So they rely on the fact that you will either not claim back, or just forget etc.
So it may not be the best deal for students, but im gonna give it a try!

Just to warn you all, i have lots of problems claiming back the cash for the contract that i took out over the website and in shops. Without going into too much detail i would not recommend them to student only because it means looking after paper work for the whole year and remembering to claim your cash back at the right time. Also if you do remember to claim your cash back you will always need to keep ringing them because they never re-credit your account and always say that your either late or you havent sent the correct paper work through or even the good old one which is we havent received your paper work and you are now too late to claim it back.
I have had this problem with https://www.themobs.com and a shop in Neasden called Simply Mobiles (on Neasden Lane). My mates have had problems with e2save and Onestopphoneshop.

I signed up for the Link Orange deal in September and a 3 deal with Cool New Mobile, sent off the first claim forms a few weeks back. Yesterday I received my first cheque for £120 from The Link and an email from CNM to say they're processing my claim. So, as long as you do what agreed to do (IE fill in forms and send them back with your bills), you're alright.0

Exactly, I have never had any problems with claims.
So long as you complete the cheque backs, exactly to the T+C's send the claims recorded and send them promptly (i.e. so that you send them as soon as you get it).
I have had absolutely no problems, the people wih problems always seem to have gone with dodgy (non reputable) companies or don't follow the procedure correctly and then they complain.

One problem, you do as the terms and conditions state and send in the claim yet the Retailer states they have not received your letter. Unless you can prove your case (ie proof of posting or recorded) you are in a difficult positon and very definitely not alright (I would still sue for your cashback though).jimmy_g wrote:I signed up for the Link Orange deal in September and a 3 deal with Cool New Mobile, sent off the first claim forms a few weeks back. And how do you know if the dealer is reputable?.0 -
i quite like the 12 month free line rental (through cashback deals). I got one last year, 12 months ran out in January, then got another one, i went for a £30 a month deal and get it all back, saving £360 a year!! And also you get cashback through Quidco as well! :beer:0

I'm on Vodafone's AnyTime 125 tariff which gives 125 any network minutes and 250 bundled texts (which can also go towards MMS messages or GPRS browsing).
It's £20 a month, but on a 12-month contract you don't get their StopTheClock promotion (talk for up to 60 minutes, pay for just 3... yadda yadda...) although you get an excellent selection of phones!
Alternatively...
If you have a parent/family member on a contract who is due for an upgrade soon, you could help them bargain a great deal (using MSE of course!
) and get them to transfer the contract (and the shiny new phone) to your name?
Hope this helps!!0 -
Thats exactly what I did for my daughter (starting uni in september) renegotiated my 02 contract to 750 xnet anytime rollover minutes 750 text + free K750i - all for £20 per month . This was much better than any so called student deal I could find0
