Getting paid to blog

Wow
I havent been online for mostd of the day and seem to have sparked quite a debate here.
Basically, Geordie Joe is bang on the money here (excuse the pun)
We were wondering how we could cut out the middle man so to speak and get paid more for the same amount of work we were putting in.
Lots of great comments, but the bottom line for me has to be "these sites CLAIM" to pay us X, Y or Z, but do they really.
In short, what are people making from their blogs, we know accurate slice the pie figures, and we know accurate writersshare figures, so taking that into account with the time and effort involved is it really worth while blogging to supplement income.
The original post was intended to spark anybody out there that ALREADY used these companies and give us some figures as to how much they made.
The blog topic is basicaly un-important and we can cross the how to's and what it should contain after we know whether its financially worth our while.
This is the up your income board after all.
Andy,
I can vouch for clickbank (ebooks), Commission Junction (acts for many big 'real' product firms), Amazon and google adsense. They're all big and long standing companies that will pay you as an affliate (all are free to join) either by cheque or bank transfer.0 -
thanks I knew soon there'd be something even I can understand:rotfl: Don't worry.....from now on I will just read this and not post, save space and people's time! Purely as I have nothing to offer but lots to learn

No, you keep posting if you don't understand something, or want to know something.
In my experience when one person speaks up and says "I don't understand" there are more who are glad they did. Also, you'll learn more by asking than you will sitting hoping some mentions something you need to know.0 -
so the way in understand it is that:
firstly) i need to create a popular blogg, and this can be about anythign i want, sport, shopping, cars, etc?
Well the sites I looked at didn't say your blog had to be popular, although it would be nice if it was. I think they just aid they had to be at least 3 months old, have a certain number of posts per week and be listed in google.
Once your blog reached that stage you apply to the sites in the first post, if accepted they pay you to put text links in some of your posts.0 -
Geordie Joe, it seems like we are going around in circles here. Looks to me that we would need to give it a bash.
Everybody so far has agreed that its possible to make money from blogs, but it could be pennies if its not a popular site.
So far, Im swaying toward giving digivate a bash for two reasons.
1. We know its probably genuine, because we know we get paid from writersshare by them.
2. It gives us exact figures we can work to - although I agree it doesnt claim to pay as well as the others, its the only one that gives hard facts.
Going to start on a blog tonight and will report back in three months time0 -

ANDY597, I'm ahead of you. My blog has been up a couple of weeks, and is indexed in google.
Just waiting until I have posted enough posts to make it look established before joining Digivate. They do give the facts, but don't really say what your site has to be like to get accepted. Although the text seems to indicate they accept all blogs.
It says something like "email us and get started making money today" it doesn't mention anything about your blog being checked to see if it is suitable first.0 -
Ok, I've done it. Filled in the contact form on the web site to let them know I am interested.
I doubt my blog will qualify, but I may find out more information.0 -
I have a blog that is very popular, but I don't make any money out of it, maybe I could if I turned it into a best selling book?
