Andy - glad to hear you've got a good idea for a blog/website. As far as making money from blogging goes - it's worth thinking about why you want to have a blog.

That's good advice, but you missed the point. Possibly not your fault as this topic actually started in another thread and Andy quite rightly started this one to keep the conversation on topic.

Anyway, the reason Andy wants a blog is to get paid for putting links in it. That is the first aim, but the overall aim is to earn money from the blog, so I'm sure Andy and others will listen to anything that will help make money from a blog.

As he, and others including me progress we may use the blog for other things. But the main aim is to make money from it.

Ah - thanks. In that case, I apparently have missed the point... Making money by blogging with paid links is doable - I'd be interested to know if it works out at a half-decent hourly rate :D

By the way - it's worth noting that including paid links (unless you use the nofollow attribute) can damage the google rankings of your site... If the aim's just to get paid for including links - though - that may not be an issue.

No problem, I wasn't criticising you, just making sure you are singing from the same hymn sheet as us.

We all want to know that. But bare in mind that it will only be for extra income, we aren't trying to do it as a full time job.

That's true, but only if google know the links are paid for. In this case the links will come via a third party site and enough posts will be made without links to make it very difficult for google to find out they were paid for.
If the aim's just to get paid for including links - though - that may not be an issue.

To begin with it won't, but you never know, some of us may get into bloging to the point where it does become an issue.

Just to put you in the picture about the money side and how this thread started. In another thread we were posting comments (large enough to be actual posts) on a blog and getting paid $2 per comment.

I discovered some sites that pay you $5 to $10 for putting a link in a post on your own blog. So, why post in someone elses blog for $2 when we can get $5 to $10 per post in our own blog. The exception being Digivate which pays $44 per 50 posts.

So, the reason for starting our own blogs is to get paid more for what we are doing already for someone else. Cutting out the middle man as it were.

I hope this explains where we are coming from, and if you have any advice about improving the google ranking of blogs, or any other ways that a blog can help you I'm sure we would be very interested.

    Wow

I havent been online for mostd of the day and seem to have sparked quite a debate here.

Basically, Geordie Joe is bang on the money here (excuse the pun)

We were wondering how we could cut out the middle man so to speak and get paid more for the same amount of work we were putting in.

Lots of great comments, but the bottom line for me has to be "these sites CLAIM" to pay us X, Y or Z, but do they really.

In short, what are people making from their blogs, we know accurate slice the pie figures, and we know accurate writersshare figures, so taking that into account with the time and effort involved is it really worth while blogging to supplement income.

The original post was intended to spark anybody out there that ALREADY used these companies and give us some figures as to how much they made.

The blog topic is basicaly un-important and we can cross the how to's and what it should contain after we know whether its financially worth our while.

This is the up your income board after all.

Exactly where we are trying to get to. Writersshare pays in theory £10 = £15 per hour if you type fast. Topics are limited so lets say thats £10 - £15 per day if you sumbit 10 posts per day.

The maths behind this is simple, 150 words in 6 minutes, 10 post in an hour
£10 per hour, or when you hit the higher band £15

So, lets just say £10 for argument sake.

Can a basic blog earn you £10 per day if you post 10 comments on it per day ?

Yep, this is the big question with any site that is new to us, does it really pay?

I'm hoping someone will speak up, but I suspect we will have to try it for our selves.

I also hope the thread title will attract people who make money from blogs in other ways, so if those sites don't pay our work may not be in vane.

And in addition, most of the sites dont accept a new blog until its like 3 months old, so trying it for ourselves without some data from other member might be a right royal waste of time and a pain in the !!!.

So come on people, if you have a blog, does it pay and do you have any experience of the companies in the OP

That's true, but I'm putting google ads on mine and looking into other ways of earning from it too.

You may be able to put "the ad network" ads in your blog, or money4banners and get paid £5 per month. But I gave up with then ages ago. Got 10 sites with them and get £50 per month, but I haven't had another site accepted for months.

so the way in understand it is that:

firstly) i need to create a popular blogg, and this can be about anythign i want, sport, shopping, cars, etc?

secondly) after i have created a popular blog i would sign up to these websites that you stated at first andy?

    thirdly) what actualy happens then?

sorry if i sound a bit dumb, but im just trying to get to the same level of understanding as you guys.

Thanks Geordie Joe at least I'm only 1% clueless eh!...the only way is up! Oh dear..that should be 99% clueless shouldn't it....not doing myself any favours here am I!!

Richt...have had a look at the warrior sire....it is very american in terms of the software / programmes it advocates. Are they appropriate for me being UK based, by that I mean I know the web is World Wide but d'ya know where I'm coming from? I hope so because since I've written this I'm not sure even I do.

I think I have found a place here. I can be the resident dummy who showcases all of yooz knowledge!!

There's actually many UK internet marketers (as well as European) on there although it is true that Allen Says (owner and Internet marketer big hitter) is American.
Here's my tip (although I suggest you test yourself) but if you have a website that is not aimed at the UK then us US English. We (UK) accept US english whereas Americans don't on websites.
