My DD never ate her sandwiches . I got so sick of finding them in the bin that i made her make some herself that she would like & made her do it for a week. She ate all them. Kids seem to like to eat stuff that they have made themselves.
I would also make sure that she is not being made fun of for being overweight etc (girls can be so cruel).. even if she is not overweight they may say stuff like that. Hope you get it sorted. ....i had dinner ladies following my daughter to the loo as they thought she was anorexic which they thought i was( but i wasn't) so i was not worried.
    Good luck!

I think I would get her to make her own pack up with your supervision. She might like the added responsibility and not prone to bring it home. It could be a shared experience while your doing something else in the kitchen. HTH.
Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia. ;)

Reading this post with interest - my son will eat anything and everything I give him - never any food brought home
Daughter however completely different story - hides food so I won't know she hasn't eaten it - she barely takes much lunch as it is - she isn't a big eater anyway and never has been.
I'm currently giving them pitta bread with ham and cucumber filling (son has a whole one and she has half) but I very much doubt she will eat it - might have taken a couple of mouthfuls out of it as with anything else in her lunchbox!
Apparently according to my mother I was exactly the same when I was a child - she was really worried but I came out ok - now eat lots of varied foods and try and keep it healthy!:D

As the title says, today when tidying DD2's bedroom I found 2 packets of sandwiches below her bed. (It's a cabin bed with a storage cupboard below, so lots of room to hide things) This isn't the first time she has hidden her lunch, in fact this is the 5th lunch I have found in the past week and a half.

Four more lunches found yesterday, 2 in her school bag and 2 below the bed buried way in at the back below toys. They weren't there from last time as I had everything cleared out. :wall::wall::wall:

Combine that with the fact we now find she has been hiding school books and homework. Arggggggghhhhhhh, can I swap her somewhere????
  • I know that this thread is now almost 2 years old, but I wanted to give you all a progress report after all the help I received.

Since our foray into bento box lunches, DD hasn't hidden one single lunch :D
She picks a different box for each day and we fill it with a variety of different tidbits for her to munch on at lunch. I think the bento idea of a little bit of this and that works very well for DD as she's not faced with a big sarnie everyday and feeling overwhelmed.

We've also become a little bento obsessed (read that as I have :o ) and have quite a collection of bento boxes, bags and accessories!

Once again to all the people who replied and offered suggestions, many many thanks. I really appreciate the input and advice offered :)

    Oh god, can't they be.

Had my friends daughter home from primary school (this was last year, so she was year 4!) in tears one day - her mum asked her why, she said some girls in her class had spent the day calling her fatty, pig, obese etc. She's a perfectly healthy, active girl, if anything a little too on the skinny side.

(I know this is 2 years old, just felt like saying it :o) I want to try Bento boxes, they sound like fun. And for the record, I still occasionally throw my sandwiches out at college - I don't have time to make my own and often get lumbered with plain ham on soggy white bread which I cannot stand. Glad you sorted it :)

My DS2 used to do this. I used to find packs of green sandwiches hidden behind the beds. He just didn't like them. When I was in High School [in the 70's]I used to throw my sandwiches away [we were allowed to then], it got to the stage where I didn't even unwrap them. My parents only gave me sandwiches so I wouldn't eat anything at all during the day. Eventually though I started having school dinners which I did eat. I think some kids just don't like sandwiches.
