Glad to hear she sounds more positive. Hope she enjoys her new lunches.

Just thought of something else - would she eat fruit loaf? Mine go crackers for Soreen fruit loaf and it's often on BOGOF in Tesco. It's more healthy than things like mini rolls, but my boys view it as cake and think it's a treat!
Here I go again on my own....

What about oat cakes, rice crackers, potato cakes and soda scones too?

Maybe DD can help you make the muffins, and have 'ownership' of them, that way she may eat more of them?

    Good luck

Could you bake a huge batch of them and freeze them, you could put one frozen everyday in her box and it would keep the rest of the lunch cool ?

My LO likes weetabix cake - would she eat that ? quick & cheap to make .....

    Update:

we went shopping today and have bought for lunches......
    basics cream cheese
    basics cheese spread
    basics snack crackers
    basics ham slices
    basics chicken roll
    basics mild cheddar
mini chicken fillets ( I have cooked these and there's enough to last a week easily)
    fruit to make fruit salad
plus if DD2 wants she can have an oat and raisin bar, I will also be making mini muffins this week. She takes water to school to drink as school milk has stopped in our area and no other drinks are allowed. School is also a nut/seed free zone due to a child having a nut allergy.

I think this is plenty to be starting with and DD2 seems happy enough with the options I have given her for the week. She likes the idea of hm versions of dunkers and lunchables, plus she's a good fruit and veg eater so no probs there with the 5 a day.

Once again I can't thank you all enough for taking time to post advice :A, I was at my wits end thinking I was the only person to have experienced this, I should have known better

I'm so pleased to read it was something as simple as your DD is bored with sandwiches. Reading that list, can I too have a pack up :rotfl: .

You have also given me some ideas my Son is getting bored with sandwiches too and just loves cheese and crackers, off to Tesco shortly to stock up, I don't know why I didn't think of it sooner as my daughter has never taken sandwiches, she is far too healthy, she likes the fruit and veg, she puts us all to shame really and she has lovely glowing skin.

    The crackers I bought are:
    0000001470321_OSAI020_2_Spec2_v1_m56577569833612969.jpg

They are just like Tuc crackers and cost 49p for a 200g pack. Would your son like things like this?

PS, I don't think a pack up would do too well in the post from Northern Ireland to you :p
  • Glad it's not just me then:p
My Son (4) went off sandwiches, we tried crackers wraps you name it, in the end I give him a combination of sandwiches, crackers, mini sausages, cold pizza, sausage rolls etc etc & i've said to the dinner ladies to please not worry if he doesn't eat it, as he eats all those things at home, but he's a slow eater, they don't get a lot of time to eat, went for a job at the school & they really rush them:eek: He eats very well at home, so I know he won't go hungry.
Glad you seem to have sorted things;)

Thats great news - i have been reading this thread with interest as like you thought I was the only one going though this! My DS is 13 and I have been finding unopened sandwiches in his room. The other day I asked him if he had eaten his lunch - he was upstairs in his room-he said yes and brought down his lunchbox with his crusts in and half eaten pear. My DH noticed that the pear was not brown which it should have been if eaten at lunchtime so asked him again!! Confession from DS - he had taken a bite out of everything and hidden the rest! I was getting v concerned about this and hated spying on him . After reading the thread we had a chat and changed from sandwiches to rolls and put different items in his lunch box and so far so good:j Thank you to all who posted on here - good advice was given and greatfully received.:T

School is also a nut/seed free zone due to a child having a nut allergy.

Banning nuts and seeds because of one child is p*ss poor school management if you ask me.

Political correctness, incompetence of the head teacher, bad management, knee-jerk reaction and incorrect actions taken from poor risk assessment and plain laziness of staff all rolled into one.

Next they will be banning use of the playground, glass in windows, electricity, corners on desks etc etc etc (coz they are dangerous)
