Arghhh! DD hiding lunches below her bed

My ds is really picky with his food and last year he took the same thing everyday which included a jam sandwich as this was the only sandwich he would eat. I helped out on a school trip and when it came to eating his packed lunch I saw him physically balk at his sandwich. I told him not to eat it and asked why he didnt tell me that he really didnt like sandwiches. He told me that he hadnt been eating them for ages and that he didnt want to upset me. Bless him he now has crackers or chicken nuggetts which he enjoys much more. Maybe she is just really bored of sandwiches and a change of pack lunch is all she might need.0

Right, next question in the saga............................
does anyone know where I can get a cheap tub that is sectioned inside?? DD asked if she could have a tub that keeps all the bits and bobs of her lunch together. (me thinks she's taking the idea from the shape of a lunchables pack )
I pack everything currently in small tupperware pots. They are about the smallest pots that I can get.

I used to have sectioned containers to carry formula doses around. Would that do? (you could store cream cheese, raisins, cherry tom?)
I am glad I found this thread.
My son who eats like an ogre at home only wants half sandwiches at school. And regularly throws food in the bin when he thinks I won't notice.
I know it's because he wants to go play, but it's nice to know many otehrs do the same.:oManners make the man...:D0 -

You can get something like this off ebay (or hardware shops), you can get little tubs that people use to put screws in or beads, they often have moveable sections.Work like you don't need money,Love like you've never been hurt,And dance like no one's watchingSave the cheerleader, save the world!0 -

Baby weaning pots often have more than one section, or are smaller at least so you have the space for more than one pot. As also mentioned one of the formula pots for baby milk.Like this one - http://www.boots.com/shop/product_details.jsp?productid=1059518&classificationid=1034958 - Avent would be your best one and can generally be bought cheaper on ebay if you are not fussy or maybe try asking for one on freecycle.
Right now for me to go and pick up my son from school and take him shopping to buy things for packed lunches. He is a slow eater and although only 5 goes through stages where he hates something and will not touch it, lately it seems that is sandwiches, I have had some brilliant ideas from this thread, thankyou!Raising kids is like being held hostage by midget terrorists0 -
I will look in Boots next time I'm in town. I don't have poundland so that's out. Will also keep an eye for bits and bobs in TK Maxx.
Thanks guys0 -
Lunches are coming home again
At least this time they aren't being hidden. When I asked her why she wasn't eating the lunch after me buying the bits and bobs specially for her, she just shrugged and sain "dunno"
Any bright ideas now, anyone?????0 -
Give her smaller portions? Maybe she's just not hungry.
How much does she eat at breakfast and playtime?
Kids do have the capacity to not eat when they're not hungry (wish I could remember how to do that.:o)Member of the first Mortgage Free in 3 challenge, no.19

Agree with above, are you giving her too much? she might eat more at home but with the temptation to rush dinner and play out I think a reduced ammount.
If she is eating well at breakfast and dinner, she is not going to starve herself, I really would reduce the ammount to a small snack and easy to eat stuff.
THis is just a phase, don't let her have controll over this and I would sugest you ask her to empty and wash out her lunch box. This way you can let her know that if she chooses to not eat her dinner she chooses to have to clean the box, when it is smelly with food from all day.
The bigger the issue made out of it she will realise she has some power over you, just put less in, check with her she is happy with the content and quantity and if she then leaves it ask her to clear it up, and leave it at that. It will take away the stress for you and she may realise that it would be easier just to eat her lunch.
