If you have a sat nav and are worried about it being nicked, www.satnavinsurance.com offers an insurance policy that covers against loss, theft and accidental damage. :beer:0

Anyone know of any recent deals on in car sat nav? It's my first time (aw bless), so just want something easy to operate and that works for a non techie minded person...looking to spend up to £200, although will spend more if worth it for ease of use.

amar wrote:Does anyone know if any of the other gps brands other than tom tom(navman, garmin etc) have the feature where you can choose to avoid areas such as motorways.I do know that tom tom one has this feature but as i am on a budget of £180 i cannot afford to get one. Thanks in advance!
There is the Mio 168/ Medion MM95563 / Micromax MDPPC 150 with INTEL 300Mhz processor for £129 as posted on Sommerfield thread on Grabbit board here
http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=135757
This uses Navigon/Navtec software
They are also available at Kwiksave as this is the same company, possibly a better bet as the staff dont know yet and are displaying old prices.
Also have Garmin i3 for £99, and a stand alone gps speed camera unit, like the Inforad, Talex for £39 think it can be used as a usb GPS receiver for a pda too.
http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/talex.php
Warning I have just been to Sommerfield and the Talex they are selling is the LITE version so it doesnt have serial/usb cable , mains adapter or the Subscription package. This will cost an extra £34.95 for the serial cable and up to six months camera updates, so not the bargain I thought

Hi
I've struggled through with transfering my tomtom one over to a bigger card, updated to the latest version and I really struggled putting the speed cameras on, I only hope its all right when its in use. I put on the set 3 for type of camera and speed
Now I'm having problems putting on the voice alerts rather than keep the beeps I really don't like them at all
I am trying from here http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/tomtom-poi-alerts.php
Am I supposed to just put the data chk file just in the tomtom when its connected via usb? coz thats what im doing and its saying its a duplicate file one I change the name like it states to do
What am I doing wrong?Thanx

put your card in the reader and plug into pc,if your using xp just open my computer and u should see a new removable disk drive.to check how much space u have just right click on this new icon and choose properties.
double click on the same icon to open your card then copy and paste or drag and drop any files you wish to add to your card.
