I was wondering that. I was just about to book 10 days in Portugal actually but I've been holding off as I'm wondering if maybe the engineer needs to come back considering that the entire non-issue was rectified within days.
What do you think? Should I just book it and then claim under my travel insurance if I need to cancel when the engineer wants to come to my house again?Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

I would not be so sure - and I say this from life experience.
Of course you have to assess first who you're talking to, etc.
And actually shouting is not the right word - you have to get very very firm and authoritative.
But this is any good only if you have a strong case and are being messed around but useless, inefficient people.
So far, worked very well with an EA, a dodgy landlord re. deposit, a plumber, misc. suppliers at work, misc. university departments.
Personally in this case, I would not even know the dishwasher was not working because I would have never used it :rotfl: (never used the one in my previous flat)
But if I had, I would not expect a rent discount (unless much higher than equivalent accommodation). And I would try to get the repairs arranged (at no cost to me of course - but I can take time off work as I whish so...)
BUT if it was clearly obvious that the EA or others were unhelpful, etc etc, I would have a rant at them - as a principle if you see what I mean, because they are so many people who never complain, they get used. It's bad.
I feel like being on a crusade!!!

What about a long nice lazzy/active [cross] week-end instead? as a compromise...0 -
Well brummybloke,
I rented the place for everything, regardless of its significance.
And it is going to be 2 months not 3, and if anyone who has moved into a new place knows, it don't take a day to move and get everything sorted.
And I never said I wanted 200 Quid, not even 1p, I mean compensation would be nice, but that wasn't my point and was never looking for that, just who is responsible so I can shout a bit for my own piece of mind
So, I would check my facts before you start having a go mate0 -

Actually, I am thinking of ranting at my Dishwasher, might get more out of it than the useless idiots who call themselves Professional Letting Agents.

""I mean compensation would be nice, but that wasn't my point and was never looking for that""
funny how folks forget their first post so quickly and what they came on here for .......
""We have paid the rent fully upfront with no discount, so am i in a position to be offered compensation for this and who do I ask.""0 -
clutton
"so am i in a position", you ever heard of that saying, doesn't mean i want compensation, just means I would mind getting it and makes no difference if I ask for it and don't get it
Funny how some People Interpret wrongly what other people are saying0
