Thanks everyone for your help. I will go and investigate tomorrow - the add-on iron sounds useful for OH's shirts but would like to see some 'in the flesh' so to speak. I still don't understand why there is such a difference in prices. Any thoughts?

It has all the attachments for doing different things including a squeegie (sp) for windows but in the manual it says not to use it on cold glass (which is obvious) but how do I know if my glass is too cold????Good enough club member number 140 -
Hi, i've had my steam cleaner for about 5 years now...it is very handy and saves loads of money on all the cleaning products. Luckily my mum bought mine because it was an expensive one with all the attachments (steam iron, wall paper steamer, window cleaner, carpet cleaner and other nozzles) so i can pretty much do the whole house!! You can clean the windows most days, i suppose just not when it is frosty or freezing outside.Buy nothing for a month challenge - Oct

Hi wonder if anyone can help!
I've seen a steam cleaner in Superdrug and was wondering whether it would clean my cream fabric sofa? It's not very expensive (under £10) so it's probably not the most powerful of steam cleaners but would it be suitable and what else can I use it for?0 -
I have been thinking about getting one of these too but dont want just another appliance that isnt used.0

IMO youd be better off saving up and going for a larger / more expensive one that is powerful enough for cleaning all round the house / car/ garden etc
the cheapy hand held ones arent very good so im told0 -
Hi
I have a cheap one - hometek penguin thing and after having a fairly powerful one before I would say that these are not particuarly worth it, it only gave me enough steam to clean the loo.
Does anyone have any recommendations for good ones?Starting with a clean slate.

Hi Studentphil,
We have a thread on steam cleaners so I've merged your thread with it as it helps to keep all the replies together...it might also be worth taking a look on the In My Home board as there are more threads over there.
