Steam Cleaner - is it worth getting one?

I like my steam cleaner. It's so easy to use and cleans the cooker, blinds, tiles, toilet and windows without any effort. Definitely a great help when cleaning. It's a smaller one but I prefer it to the big bulky ones. It's not such a chore to dig it out and use it." The greatest wealth is to live content with little."

Love mine. Use it all the time. Bought a pack of towelling cloths in the car section at costco - oh pleased - and it works out much cheaper than buying extra cloths from the manufacturer.
Defrosts old freezer so quick, clean practically anything. Great on floors, windows, bathroom. I've got a mid-size machine, not one of the small handheld ones. Mine has an iron attachment, would have liked a polti but am pleased with mine.0 -

I borrowed a hand held one (polti)which was great for small kitchen jobs.
So I then bought a large one to do tiled floor, but it vibrated so much and loosened some tiles. I tried using it on my suite (posh flock type) but after a couple of minutes I could tell that it was just going to ruin it. I think it would be great on draylon etc, but then so is a carpet cleaner. So it's now sitting in a cupboard.
I would highly recommend a carpet washer/cleaner, I wouldn't be without mine (Upright Hoover Brush'n'wash). I use it for carpets/curtains/suite/car seats/beds and was handy for just sucking up water when the washing machine leaked everywhere.
I tend to use stardrops or washing powder in mine rather than the expensive carpet shampoos.0 -
I've got a vax I think which I find very good on hard surfaces and have used happily on skirting boards etc. It's supposed to do carpets and upholstery but I noticed no difference there, so won't use it for them again.

The instructions which came with mine says suitable for some laminates and to check with the manufacturers (of the floor) before using. I've used it on the wooden floor in our new house with no problems but only give it a quick omce over to be on safe side.0 -
I have one - I thought it was going to change my life!!! I had visions of an immaculately clean floor, spotless walls etc......
I actually only use it if I am:
a) decorating
b) having a major clean
& I sometimes use it to clean the bathroom - because you don't need chemicals to kill germs.
I'm glad I have one but I must admit I wish I had bought a breadmaker instead!!!:rotfl: :rotfl:
