Steam Cleaner - is it worth getting one?

I always borrow my parents steamer to defrost the freezers, it certainly speeds it up.0

Here's another instance of a Karcher lookalike, maybe a rebadged one again?: http://www.ebuyer.com/348989-efbe-schott-stci-5y-steam-cleaner-transformer-yellow-stci-5y (7-In-1 Steam Cleaner with Iron & Window Cleaner Attachment. Currently on Groupon for £69.99). Not sure if it's as powerful.
Rated at 4 Bar rather than the Karcher SC1020's 3.2 Bar so maybe it is0 -
I have a Vax Steam Cleaner, I really love using it as the whole house smells so clean and fresh after it. Its wonderful on the floors and toilets too. Never thought of using it to defrost the freezer that is a new one for me0

OK, I am considering getting a Polti for Christmas (may as well get something useful) I have spent all day getting really excited about steam cleaners, reading tons of reviews and forum posts...
however, how many of you bought one and now never use it? I don't mind paying £80 for something I will use weekly (especially like the idae of cleaning mattresses as DS suffers allergies).
Any feedback anyone?June Grocery Challenge £493.33/£500 July £/£500

I've got a Polti Eco Pro and I use it with the iron accessory so it gets used all the time. We recently had a house fire and the Polti was the only thing that got smoke from the grout.
I love mine, have had Polti's for years and I never put it in a cupboard and forget about it!0 -
Are these the same ones which you can use to clean ovens with?0

Thanks Angelina, I convinced hubby then kept unconvincing myself... they are quite pricey but would rather get a decent one... IF I am actually going to use it!
Poet, yes you can clean ovens with them.June Grocery Challenge £493.33/£500 July £/£500

I've got one and l-o-v-e it! Used regularly, it can mean the end of buying chemical cleaners - great if you've got anybody with 'breathing allergies' in the family. Quick treating of any stains on carpets too.
Plus - can't be beaten for a 'quick defrost' of the freezer.

I only use mine to clean in the bathroom these days, its a polti too and tbh I wish I hadn`t bothered buying it as it takes up a fair amount of space. I`ll probably make more effort to use it now but I won`t replace it when it breaks down. There are other very good `eco` and allergy friendly cleaners, including eco cloths.0

I had a polti for years but it stopped steaming for some reason and I then got a Simac VAS80. It was steamer with vacuum and it was very good - bulky but it left the floors, tiles etc virtually dry! Didn't have to use so many cloths. Then the hose broke - and I tried to get a new one but of all the replacement parts, they discontinued the dratted hose! Can apparently get everything else but not the hose! I was so cross!
Tried to get one on ebay/gumtree etc but nothing doing so bit the bullet and bought a new Polti Lecoaspira from Amazon Warehouse Deals - great deal as was virtually half RRP and only thing wrong was box was a bit ripped round the handle cutout!!! Don't even think it had been opened! Have always had good deals from Amazon Warehouse so far! (Don't want to tempt fate!!)
Is bulky but very manoeuvreable as has castors.
Anyhow, it seems fab so far! Good pressure and suction. Actually, it is better than the VAS80 as the steam pressure is higher.
Have only cleaned my floors so far but will be tackling the tiled kitchen and bathroom soon and then steaming all my curtains.
My only regret is that it doesn't have an iron attachment included so am on the look out for another deal from Amazon!
For anyone looking to buy for the first time, my advice is get the most powerful that you can afford as the higher the steam pressure and volume (g/min) the quicker and more effectively it will clean.0
