    Hi mermaid,

As your thread has dropped down the Old Style board I've added it to an earlier thread with advice on steam cleaners that may help.

I was wondering if anyone on here has a steam cleaner, apparently a hospital in the Midlands has cut their C-diff inection rate by more than 30% by using steam cleaners, I had been looking at one in Argos the Bionaire steam mop at £89.99. Any comments????

I am going to be worse than ever cleaning after this little effort......

I meant to suggest this to you after I saw your cleaning efforts on the other thread. I borrow one off my friend - it's a Karcher jobbie - every now and then. It's fabulous for it's cleaning ability - I use it to give the sofa and mattresses and curtains I can't be bothered to take to the laundrette. It's got a shoulder strap and a whole host of attachments so it's easy to use and carry around.

Aside from its cleaning ability, steaming is certainly a great way to get rid of bugs and other nasties. In your circumstances I'd definitely beg, borrow or steal one for a weekend!
  • ive got my eye on a politi steam cleaner for just over a £100. they are ment to be really really good according to my mum. just waiting on getting my overdraft clear before ordering one.

the ones ive seen in lakeland and advertised elsewhere look really flimsey. this one seems to do carpets, floors and cleans sides and everywhere else as well.

I've got a small steam cleaner and it's great for old corners and tiles. It cost under £25 from Argos some time ago.

  • I bought a Vax steam cleaner as I have ivory coloured carpets and it keeps them like new.
To be honest I've never used it for anything else but I could'nt do without it to keep the carpets in good nick.

I noticed the factory shop today were selling one for £50, and just by chance they were demonstrating the same one at the good food show in Glasgow yesterday, cant remember the name, steam........., it changes from being able to do floors to doing beds by altering the handle size. Looks quite impressive. I have a small hand held one from b and q that I do tiles, oven etc with. I have used it on the ceramic tiles on the bathroom floor, shower screen etc, - even tried it on the alloy wheels of the car - great!!! This one was only about £25.
