Try Churchill via Quidco

I have recently used Martin's system for both my car and home insurance and was about to go with the screenscrapers cheapest but via Quidco when I noticed for some reason the screenscrapers did not give me a quote from Churchill. As Churchill give good cashback on Quidco I got a quote via Quidco and they worked out the best for both car and home insurance as you will see from these quotes:

Cheapest screenscrapers:
  • car - Swiftcover £142.81 less Quidco cashback £45 = net £97.81
  • home - Post Office £157.69 less Quidco cashback £27.20 = net £130.49
Churchill:
  • car - £164.85 less Quidco cashback £100 = net £64.85
  • home - £131.25 less Quidco cashback £80 = net £51.25
The cashback tracked after 1 day.

Suggest if you do not get a quote from Churchill via the screenscrapers you get one via Quidco;) .
Regards
erb :)

I've just done lloyds tsb home and contents insurance ...Quote £174...paid last night ...Checked today ..£120 validated at Quidco .
Site says they take about 3 months to pay out ,but if I can get home and contents for £54.00 a year I will be more than happy.

Churchill and Direct Line have the same parent group- namely RBS

Direct line recently had a scrap with the comparison sites , maybe they have decided to pull Churchill - as you may or not be aware the companies usually have to pay to be on those sites .

I've done my own quotes and often find the comparisons quotes questionable ( wrong after linking thro) - always got better ( usualy after using quidco) with getting own manual quotes

For my own business (which includes property insurance) again lots of providers seem wrong or missing on comparison sites

I understood it that generally the companies only pay an affiliate fee to the site if the pol is set up. Direct line refuse to go on any comparison sites as their mind set is that you deal directly with them in each instance.

The problem with comparison sites is that when you fill in your details on the comparison site, the question might not be worded the same on all the sites it checks. An example is this, say you passed your driving test on 26 march 2006. When you fill in your details on the comparison site it asks when you past your test giving you the option for month and year only (no date of month) so you enter MARCH 2006. it then compares all the websites for you. On the website it checks the question is worded a little differently "How many years have you held your full UK licence?" this time giving the option of years to select, 0,1,2,3 or more. the aggregator site see you entered march 2006 and takes that as 2 years even though it is not quiet 2 years and gives you a price based on 2 years driving experience. I spoke to a customer who experienced this, requested the quote be transfered on to the call centre system and when the details were corrected a price change of over £200 happened due to there currently being less than the 2 years experience.

The comparison sites are good to give you an idea, but nothing more, if you get something you like the look of, its best to then go direct to the site of the company yourself

    sorry for being long winded
