In Scotland all schools have a 20mph limit (flashing LED's on a sign) when they may be kids about, ie 8am-9am, lunchtime, and around 3.30. This means in some rural areas you could come round a corner at a certain time of the day and the speed limit instantly changes from 60 to 20
Good idea ! no different than going from 70 to 30 mph.0 -
Speed limits in England cannot drop by more than 30mph a time.0

The speed limit signs entering a MSA aren't legal ones. They do not follow the format for a proper speed limit sign.0 -

The rules for speed limits are complex, they involve streetlamp spacing, use of repeaters, type of carriageway, national speed limit, and accessibility by the public.
In short, no you can't do 100mph.0 -

If there isn't a "proper" legal speed limit sign, no properly spaced street lamps, no repeater signs - why not ?
The 70 limit can't apply as, strictly speaking, it isn't part of the motorway - which is why the AA & RAC can't fix your car in one.(Strictly speaking !)0 -
There id so much signage installed on the major motorways now, M1 in particular. At God knows what expense.
Do you all think those dirty great gantries are there just to tell us it will take 18mins to the next junction but 1. Yes they will certainly house the neccessary kit to log mileage taxation or road charging in the future, but, in the context of this post, why can't they be used to give variable speed limits for our motorways?
We all know that some days/conditions 30mph is the safe max but at optimum it could be 100?I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)
Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed0 -

No. Whilst they wouldn't be able to prosecute you for speeding, they could prosecute you for dangerous driving because even if it was not part of the "Queens Highway", it is a public place and the RTA applies to some extent.0
