You could come round any corner and find a broken down car, tractor etc and there's no flashing lights there.
Yes you could have to - but should you have to do nigh on an emergency stop to obey a speed limit?
Just noticed yesterday though that they've now put an advance wanring sign up for one of them0 -

What on earth has that got to do with it ?0 -
Well I guess because a motorway service area is a government owned piece of road that normal NSL may apply? Or maybe you'd just get sone for dangerous driving in a public place? Who knows? You'd be lucky to get over 20mph in most of them anyway:p0

Our whole estate is being turned into a 20MPH zone and the area around the school is to get a shedload of signage to say there's a school there. There is no reason for the speed limit and people who go into this estate do so because they live here or have business here and know the school is there. I sent a 5 page letter to the Highways Engineer detailing why non of this was needed and that a proposed central reservation at a road junction would prevent buses being able to enter the estate which is something I don't think anyone had considered.
Have you campaigned for speed cameras there as well?Gwlad heb iaith, gwlad heb galon0 -
Why don't we put this back on track?
('cos it's got abit bogged down)
So in view of todays vehicles, and todays congestion, I hold that variable speed limits are the way to go.
Anyone agree or disagree?:money:I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)
Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed0 -

Are you being deliberately obtuse?
Look, if you want to do 100mph and not break the law then go to a track, or buy a big field and tarmac it, then do whatever you like.
Just ensure that it is not accessible to the public. If you don't think that matters, go and have 5 pints and do some doughnuts in the local supermarket car park at closing time. Try telling the coppers that its private land and they can't do anything about it. Come back here when you do, so we can all laugh at you.0 -

Personally I would ban the use of speedometers and remove speed limits, and prosecute only for dangerous driving.0 -

Yes I agree too, anywhere in the range 50-85 depending on conditions and what is on the road ahead. The pre-condition is the technology to know there are jams ahead so that those farther back down the road can be told to slow to 50, no point rushing to the back of a queue, only makes things worse, you might avoid people having to come to a halt if your really lucky.0 -
IMO motorway speed limits are fine as they are0
