What do you suggest? Ban lorries? How about tractors etc as well? After all, I'm sure they are only on a Sunday afternoon jolly :rolleyes:0 -

If I can do 100mph I can get there much quicker than if I did 70mph, physics says so.
I would be less stressed too since I would be concentrating so much on trying to achieve warp speed!"I'm not from around here, I have my own customs"
For confirmation: No, I'm not a 40 year old woman, I'm a 26 year old bloke!0 -
if this is a quiz question, i would say then you would probably end up undertaking, which in itself is illegal(m42 they where the days travelling from somerset to yorkshire)

Well yes - but large sections of them are restricted. Using the criteria they use there (eg busy areas, passing near housing) huge sections of our network would be restricted.0 -
Yeah...LEARN TO USE PROPER LANE DISCIPLINE.
Below is a picture I see regularly. Guess which lane was moving the fastest. Can someone tell me why non of that lot moved over to the empty L1 as you're supposed to do? BTW, that's the M42 where so many people were complaining that it was the lorries holding them up that they introduced an overtaking ban. The picture tells the true story...
It can be a bit more complicated than that.
The right hand lane is often a queue that has formed behind one vehicle that is slowly overtaking. Imagine that you are a vehicle in that queue and you pull over. The vehicle behind will then advance and fill the space that was left. Not wanting to be annoy people you don't go any faster than the vehicles in the right hand lane and progress at the same speed as them. When you approach the obstacle you need to pull out. A confident driver will indicate and wait to be allowed out or gradually pull into whatever space is available. This quite often upsets the vehicle behind, and a non-confident driver will find it quite an ordeal.
I'm quite happy to pull over and then back out, but it does seem to annoy a fair number of people and occasionally I'll drop back one place in the queue as a result. I don't really like being in a queue and trade having an open space in front of me with losing a few places. It doesn't make huge sense because I'm normally wanting to travel more quickly than the things that crawl past me.
If you want to really make people !!!!y then drive down the left hand lane faster than the right (legally) and then indicate and pull out at the front.
It's not in the same league as middle lane morons, or those that use the outside lane when the inside lanes are clear and there is nothing else on the road.Happy chappy0 -
That's just wrong really.

Not wrong at all, I cannot understand why everyone in this country is always in a tearing hurry, nothing is really gained by it.0 -
my 2p's worth.
I agree the speed limit should be raised on the motorways or even removed. But I would also suggest that around schools, in residential areas and on country lanes it should be reduced.
The systems in France and Germany work well. It seems to me though the driving standard in this country is shocking, people sitting in the middle lane a favourite hate of mine.
Parts of the M6 near me you can see people miles ahead sitting and not understanding why they’re in the wrong.

A quote from Wikipedia:
From 1930 to 1965, most roads outside urban areas, including motorways, did not have a speed limit. However, in December 1965, after a series of multiple crashes on motorways, mainly in fog, an experimental speed limit of 70 mph (112 km/h) was introduced for motorways and all other unrestricted roads,[17] and made permanent in 1967 for motorways and dual carriageways with a central reservation (with the limit dropped to 60 mph (100 km/h) for other unrestricted roads). It was reduced to 50 mph (80 km/h) in response to the 1973 oil crisis, and restored to 70 mph (112 km/h) in 1974. Both, the Association of British Drivers[18] and the The Automobile Association[19] have called for the limit to be increased.
There was me thinking the speed limit was introduced the the early '70's oil crisis as a means of conserving fuel. I guess not.
Modern vehicles are better able to handle speed, so I would be in favour of say a 85mph limit, but at the same time you need to stop the crazy idiots driving at this kind of speed in fog / heavy rain /snow & ice.0
