I'm sorry to hear about your situation but the sad reality is that unless you have gone to extreme lengths to hide your identity it is pretty easy to track anyone down via the internet.
He can find you quite easily through your IP address if he knows your e-mail address:
There are a number of things you can do to make it harder for him to track you down in the future:- Avoid online communities.
- Consider changing your name by Deed Poll.
- Make sure he doesn't have your e-mail address.

I do have a BT landline but made sure I was ex directory. How is my address attached to my IP. I'm with Sky, do they have that information on the net for all to see??? If so can someone tell me where please?
Thanks to everyone again for their messages of support. I'll post again when there's any update.:rolleyes:0 -

I am not a techie but it is your internet provider address that can be traced from your e-mail address if he has that, not you postal address.
It is certainly possible to set up e-mail addresses without giving your postal address (or rather give one other than where you live). If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -
I'm still thinking about this.... Are you having your mail re-directed ? Have you left forwarding addresses at previous addresses ?
Also someone mentioned injunction.. when i tried this, the court said i had to hand over the address that i wanted him to stay aware from....defeats the object

Hey hun,
Just wanted to add my support to you. I know exactly how you feel my ex made my life a misery for 18 months but by mental not physical abuse.
He made my life hell, even inflicted my 83 year old dad with abusive and silent phone calls and grafittied (sp?) my old house.
He worked for the bank I banked with so as he was aware of my dads address already but didn't have the balls to go round as my brother was about twice his size so I left the address as my dads and I let him think I was moving home.
In fact I had taken a massive step and bought my first house on my own. I kept this address the same until I closed the account but he tried every trick in the book including looking up my friends address through the bank and writing to her (DPA????). He even last year tried to contact my best friend on MSN to see if he was still in contact with me.
I changed my name via deed poll and as I'm getting married he hopefully wont be able to find me.
Re the IP address - if you are in the know having some ones IP address is an easy way of finding some ones postcode - I was thinking it while reading your thread and I have just asked one of the IT guys at work. (yes I am still here booo!)
Anyway, best of luck. Keep posting and let us know if you need anything

Just sending hugs, :grouphug: .
I know that me & my ex have our moments, but never in a million years can I hope to understand how you, or anyone else, in this sort of situation cope.
Good luck to all in these situations.Living debt free, since Sept 08 & Dec 10 :wall:
