Was there a record of the abuse with your then-local police force? If so, ask your now-local force's domestic violence officers to contact that force & get the records from them - then they should be able to respond within a much shorter time, because they are then aware that there is an issue with DV at your current address. And keep your DV contact updated if you have to move again.

:kisses3: I wish I had some helpful advice to offer. But I can't add much to what's above already, so I'll just send you a big message of support. Don't feel you have no friends or noone to talk to, you can ALWAYS come on here and talk to us lot. I hope you are someday soon able to live free of this person and able to look forward instead of having to look back.

Do keep posting and let us know how you're doing. I hope you've found some place safe you can be for the time being.

  • Hello Again

It amazes me how much the law helps people get your personal dets.

You can pay £3 to HM Land Reg to get full dets of a person's property, what they paid for it, & fullname dets of the owner. I rec contacted Land Reg to tell them to get my dets off their site sighting concerns about i/d theft & the fact they did not have my permission. I was told i could not do anything about it as government policy is that it is in the "public interest".

The same goes for DVLA records, voters role, CRF records etc. They all have their price & this was all brought in by Blair & Brown & it's going to get worse.

Think of i/d cards & some nutter who is after you having a mate (probably working for a private contractor & un-vetted) giving out your info.

So remember this when the politicians come crawling for your vote.

Sorry for rambling but this culture of flogging our personal info under the guise of public benefit really anoys me.
  • Thank you all for your replies. I'm just in from work so I'll come back after some sleep to reply properly.

The comment from Andybez is less than helpful shall we say - thats putting it supremely tactfully. Unfortunately people like that come on these Boards, as well as the rest of us - theres no way available of keeping them off.

I dont understand the mindset of people who go in for deliberately upsetting others.

Just to say - best of luck to O.P. A namechange could well be an idea - and, yes, Government records kept on people may well not be helping in this respect.
  • Back in the land of the living so I thought I'd reply:

    ceridwen: thank you.

floss2: no records with police. luckily only had to go to hospital once because of the ex, so maybe they'd have a record. not sure how long they'd have to keep them tho.

tallyhoh: thanks for your reply. my ex's current partner is a dab hand at forging my signature so I'm guessing this or the council tax route was how they found me.

creditwreck: thank you. you're right, ex is a bully. physical violence is something you can show someone, its the mental abuse that i've found harder to deal with.

    shell_girl and terryw: thank you

blue_monkey: your life sounds like it has been an absolute nightmare. my biggest fear is that he will come and set fire to the house. I really hope that your life is a whole lot better now...i just don't know what to say but...thanks.

and to everyone else, thank you. I will wait for a bit now until the whole house thing goes to court then move again i think. hopefully if i call the police again it won't take so long for them to come. :o

:hello: Just wanted to say Hi

This is a horrible thing for you to be living with, I am so sorry. I think Shell_girl's advice is excellent, no-one should have to live in fear of someone. Please keep posting. Sending you warm wishes and lots of luck.

You need to contact your local DV co-ordinator & tell them your history with him, so that you are treated as an urgent caller......they can put a marker on your property & name so if you need to call again they will respond as an urgent case, not a regular call.

    Hi again,

I wanted to thank you for posting again as I was worried. Are things OK for you right now? Are you on your own in the house? Do you have somewhere safe to go if you need to?

Please do keep on letting us know how you are and all the best for everything.
