Hiding from my ex from hell but he found me

I've been hiding from my ex for various reasons, including fear of violence, for the last 3 years. I have moved 3 times, I'm not, as far as I'm aware, on the register of electors and have done all I can to be invisible, but he finally tracked me down last weekend. I was forced to dial 999 because I was scared of what he and his current partner might do, the police finally arrived 16 hrs later, but thats another story!
What I was wondering is how can he have found me?? He doesn't know where I work so couldn't have followed me I don't think. I'd like to know so when I have to move again, I don't do the same things that have helped him this time.

Before anyway asks what has this to do with being debt free, he's after me because I went bankrupt in 2005 and the insolvency people want the house from him. Have posted about this before because its all a bit complicated.
I have finally after 3 years seen some light at the end of a very dark tunnel, but this has been a huge set back.

Any thoughts on how he found me though I'd be very grateful. :o

I'm not 100% sure on this but is there anyway he could have found out from your OR? does your OR know your new address?

Hey there. I'm really sorry to hear about your troubles. I couldn't even begin to imagine what you must be going through.

I'm afraid I can't help with your question but you could maybe try posting on the Relationships board or the Bankruptcy board.

I'm not sure the latter would help but maybe worth a try.

Does he know where any of your relatives live or any of your close friends. If he is the intimidating type he maybe threatened them into giving them some details.

  • thanks for the quick reply. OR agreed from day 1 that I did not have to give any address details. The only address they have is the original one from BR day which is 3 addresses ago! Even the solicitors in the taking back of the house don't have any contact details apart from an email address.
  • I hate to say it but do you know any one who could possibly be in touch with the scumbag from hell? any mutual "friends" and could have given your address to him?

I can't see how else he could have found out.

really sorry hon, hope you are doing ok

    xx

Just wanted to say it makes me feel very lucky "only" being in debt after reading stories like yours. I can't imagine how scared you were - please take care of yourself and keep posting.

  • I don't have much in the way of family and apart from my dad they all have different surnames than mine, so don't think he would have got to me through them. I'd also like to think they'd have told me.

He managed to isolate me from any friends and most of my family for the 10 years we were together, so as sad as it seems, I don't have any friends.

I have a great best mate in my more recent ex, who would very much like to pay him a visit to show him his baseball bat collection, but we know this is a really bad idea.

When you wne tbankrupt they would have published your various address in the local press to your relevant addresses (unless you requested the Judge to with hold them)

Could he have seen them ?

i too am in the same situ as you..... so i feel for you....

    All the best

  • I knew someone once that didn't want an abusive ex-husband to find her. He too someone kept finding her. It turn out he knew someone that worked for the same bank that she had her account with. This person was looking up my firends details and pass them on to the said ex. It did eventually get sorted, butif your BR I guess he cannot be tracking you this way or through any other cards/accounts??

Just had a thought... are you on any networking sites like Bebo or facebook where he could get someone to access your details?

Is he devious enough to hire a private detective?

I'll inderstand if you don't want to answer but how far away are you from him? If you are about 30 miles or so away then he might find it easy to locate you but if you were about 100 miles away he wouldn't (unless he has knoweldge of the areas)
