Who'd have imagined it? NPower in water muddying shocker! :D

I don't know what all the fuss is about!

You can easily calculate your bill using this simple formula:

I don't intend to wait until time equals infinity before I leave NPower.

I agree that NPower are probably generating our bills using imaginary numbers!

Once I get my £80 dual fuel payment, I'll be switching....

Cardew - are you some sort of DSP engineer?

    No!

But clever of you to spot the Continuous Fourier Transform.

I think we should not carry on this distraction from the evils of Npower accounting!!!

Don't worry Cardew, I won't continue the Fourier theme here; I only tend to discuss that topic at parties anyway! ;)

Anyway, back to the subject of those NPower rogues.

Once my dual fuel annual bonus is paid in July I will be switching away from NPower; however what is the procedure if there is still an outstanding balance on my account(s)? Do NPower simply request the balance from me before I am switched, do they take the money automatically from my direct debit or will they attempt to block the switch because there is an outstanding balance?
N.B. If an outstanding balance exists it will only be very small anyway as I pay by direct debit and always read my meters whenever a bill is issued / prices are changed.

Conversely, if I have an overall credit balance, will NPower simply send me a cheque (albeit some weeks/months later I imagine)?

The only reason for the questions is so I am aware of any more of their dodgy tactics that they would employ to block my switch.

Thanks in advance for any feedback.

On the issue of home energy - I'm with Scottish Power, and I end my capped rate energy deal tommorrow. Having done Martin's recommended searches on uswitch/moneysupermarket, it appears that (for electricity anyway - since I don't have gas), Scottish Power are still the cheapest tarrif for me in the north of England.

I also note Martin's email - predicting that energy prices are to rise by a colossal amount again in the summer/autumn this year:eek: . Scottish Power are doing a fixed deal until February 2011. By my calculations, my energy price will rise anyway after tommorrow by 10% if I go onto the cheapest tariff. But if I fix my prices until 2011, it goes up 15% (i.e. just 5% more).

From the state of things as they are, and with a visit to the petrol pumps these days more likely to bring on post-traumatic stress disorder of the wallet - I think that energy prices are set to rise a whole lot more than this, so it looks a good deal to me.

Yep - it definitely looks like a good time to check our options!

Sounds my sort of a party, that sort of talk really 'turns on' the ladies!

They will only block your switch if you are owing a considerable sum. They usually will take the outstanding sum by DD.

I would not close your DD because they can then charge you at the 'non DD' rate.(backdated?) You will be safe because the DD guarantee is with your bank and Npower need to tell you in advance how much they are going to take.
  • It's not just npower who fail to tell there customers that they can get a better offer from themselves just by clicking online.

I'm with eon and I got a letter through the door saying the price was going to go up. I checked online to see what other products were available on eon before looking elsewhere. Amazing I was left on online 4, the new online 5 product was exactly the same as what I was paying only this time it was frozen until april 2009. One click avoided the price rises for me.
It is in my diary to start looking for energy suppliers when this offer runs out.
Lets get this straight. Say my house is worth £100K, it drops £20K and I complain but I should not complain when I actually pay £200K via a mortgage:rolleyes:

Erm? It's called estimating based on past usage or using an average for your type of property/circumstances?
 I have a poll / discussion on Economy 7 / 10 off-peak usage (as a % or total) and ways to improve it but I'm not allowed to link to it so have a look on the gas/elec forum if you would like to vote or discuss.
