I have not been on this site recently as all my waking time is spent on the banking crisis. But please read the FSA website today and see the most aggressive messsage yet issued on the missale of PPI. Please do not be confused by the reference to unsecured loans as that was simply where the FSA focussed attention. You will see their disgust at the way some firms are treating customers. More blood to follow? It should be an encouragement to all who have been missold.
Thanks Singlep, just read the article ,brilliant.:DDS1 12/10/04

Got this back from FOS today regarding the timescales of my PPI claim. What do you think?Dear Mr XXXXX,Thank you for your e-mail.As long as you make your complaint within the 6 years from when it was taken out, you should still be eligible to complain. If you can provide proof that you made your complaint within this timescale, it would certainly be useful if there are any queries about whether the complaint falls within our remit. Also, as you rightly state in your second e-mail, Firstplus were members of GISC. Therefore, if the 8 weeks from your original complaint have passed, you can download and send me a complaint form. Upon receipt, I will be able to pass the complaint to our casework area for further consideration. For future reference, the reference number for your complaint is XXXXX. Please quote this on all correspondence.
Yours Sincerely
XXXXXXX
Are their 8 weeks up on 3rd October???
Good luck0 -

Why do they not realise that we do want to protect ourselves but these single premiums sold alongside loans are not the answer. They just do not get it, it makes me sooo angry. Why would we want to pay another loan and often have it secured over our property when we could get a similar product for much less, cancellable, and not in the form of another loan. We are already in debt and then subjected to more purely for the profits of the banks/lenders and certainly not for the interests of the consumer.
Where we require protection is from these vultures that sell it.:mad:0 -
Hi All
Following was in Mail today.
Firms which generate the most complaints from customers will soon be named and shamed.
The complaints adjudicator, the Financial Ombudsman Service, wants to publish the number of complaints it receives about the 150 or so financial firms that generate the most cases.
It also wants to make known the number of "upheld" cases - where the firm was found guilty. This information will be published every 6 months, and the FOS hopes to start next year.
The City watchdog, the Financial Services Authority, also plans to publish complaints from customers in a league table.
This would list all the complaints firms receive from customers including those that are dealt with internally and not referred to the FOS:T:mad:0 -

I have on hire purchase a car bought off Express Car Credit Ltd, who arranged finance through Welcome Finance, when I went to collect the car, the paperwork was given to me with the PPI amounts already filled in, along with insurance for mechanical breakdown and shortfall insurance, I dont remember being asked if I would like these, Im sure they were just pointed out to me as "this is ppi, this is mechanical breakdown insurance" etc, with a brief explanation of what it covered and why I needed these insurances, needless to say total amount payable for the insurances is £3,538.56, the car originally cost £5,300 but with interest and these "unwanted" insurances, which have also had interest added the total amount to be repaid is £12,650.08, I am currently half way through the loan term of 48 months. Can I cancel/ reclaim these insurances and so reduce my monthly payment? I did sign the box saying "I wish to purchase" ppi etc felt I had no option and didnt realise I could refuse the insurances anyway! Any help would be greatly appreciated0
